You can kite all year. summer is best as the winds are consistient, in at 12 blows all afternoon, generally steady winter is mildly more unpredictable, your generally kiting fronts. Which can be gusty and nasty. winds can change quickly from a nice 18-23 to a sudden 35-40, which aint so much fun. So to answer your question all summer (6 months) or all year if your keen.
no seriously im new and in the market how many months do i get out of it???
Depends where you live. On the east coast NSW it seems that you can ride the winter westerlies and the summer prevailing onshores. You need to say where you live to get a good answer to live.
PR - your being a bit optimistic there arent you ?
theres gotta be at least three months after summer seabreezes are over when the winds are so low you dont even bother looking at the graphs any more. not even a cold front in site to try some gusty stuff
If you have a fair amount of blubber on board then winter kiting is doable. Probably the best time is while daylight saving is around i.e. now thru to end of March. That said there was some good kiting last year in April & May too.
You will quickly learn with this sport not to trust the weather forecast and instead just check the beacons each day - or go stand on the beach in your local spot.

Yeah maybe, though i've managed to kite two or three times a fortnight pretty much all winter. My longest out of water experience this year has been probably two weeks.
Ladies please harden up... nothing wrong with winter kiting. It's colder here in NZ and we kite year round.
I personally like winter much better than summer. Summer brings it's fair share of problems... like crowded beaches, but if you know where to go then it's ok.
yeah i gotsta get me one of these "lifes" i have heard so much about kiteboard'n sounds like a damn good start ill get my ##$$ together get some more knowlege and see u out there.
so the answer to my question is 6 monthys of good times and 6 months of good times chilled to the bone.... i can do this it sounds good are there any tricks with the weather like where do you get to see these "graphs" coz the waetherman is an evil prick ..... my question where do you get your weather info?
only one bad thing here: you will get so hooked on it that you get so depressed when you cant go out in winter coz theres no wind. a few ppl here turn stir crazy during no-wind winter months. at the mo you'll find everyone really cheerful coz theyre amped about summer -- wwwoooooooooooooohhhhhhhhooooooooooooooo! summers here!

Mate, in this digital age it's all too easy to go to any one of about fifty sites for wind reports - but the go is to learn to read synoptic charts for a general overview, then use the best tool you have, the "optical" method...stand at your local with a wind meter.
