way too big... look for a 10m add or minus 1m for ever 10kgs either side of 80Kg you are. [eg im 78 so would go for a 10m if i wanted only one kite]
a 14 requires skill to control / hold back and wont be very for giving

Agree with kitecrazzy - 14m is too big if you are a complete beginner. Get some lessons, and ask the instructor to advise you on the best kite size to suit you. The slingshot turbo is the right type of kite for you - bow kite means large depower range for safety and easy relaunch. If by wello you mean Wellington Point, you'll find that a 78kg person would have a 12m kite for a one kite quiver. Wello isn't the windiest place in Oz. Be safe and good winds

A 14m TD1 was my first kite and had it as my only kite for ages - the TD is a very stable 14m kite and in my opinion is an excellent first kite - I ended up selling it to a beginner who has done really well on the kite. I weigh 80kg and could ride the kite in 12knots to around 20knots in the beginning. I think a 10m is OK but would not suit your conditions as well as a 14m would.

1000 sounds like a good deal for a TD2 - for some reason they don't sell that quickly which is probably why its at a low price.

I started on a 14m TD2... I weigh 95kilos though. Even if the size of the kite itself may seem a bit large the safety and response of that kite is so brilliant you should have no problems.

I've been out with gusts well over 20knots on my 14m (on my fifth or so flight) and I totally comfortable. That also a very good deal on a TD2, top nitch kite

kiting is way more fun in over 18 knots with a smaller, faster, easier kite.
i can get going early white caps in flat water with the right board and an 11m, graphs have said 11 knots, gusting 12 before but really its just going back and forth focusing on efficiency and no fun to be had out of that, the novelty of going up wind while others can't keep their kites flying wears out real quick as well.

You are crazy to put a waroo best before a slingshot... particularly second hand. As a new kite there is $1000 difference in price. The 07 TD2 owns over an 06 Best any day. Durability, reliability and performance aren't even comparable.
