i am finding a few kites for sale that seem like good deals, i assum it is because it is the end of summer, will prices drop further or should i buy now? it is my first season, which is why i dont know

I think generally people sell their kites to get more up to date models. not sure it has an awful lot to do with the season, rather the year and when the new ranges are coming out.

my only advice would be to not but a kite thats more than 2 years old. they got a lot better from 2003 -2004 onwards.

Any goss on what new features the 06 kites are going to have? 6th line? Rockets on the trailing edge?

If it were me I'd buy now. You have to figure in the incremental costs of missed kite sessions - ... priceless.
