Hey,

Judging by your weight and comments, I'd say that the 13 is a little big for your first kite.

Also St Kilda is also a crowded kite site so does not make learning such a joy.

Choose your board wisely and it will make your learning curve faster.

thanks for you help, the board is a 1 45-150 cm directional "extreme" board, what do you think of this? i am getting the whole setup for $700 so i am eager to get it, also does anyone know if this is a good deal?
thanks

Hey there Clif Im about as pro Fuel as they get but my 2c here...
NO WAY .... the curve will flatten right out with that style of kite as your 1st up.
Go low aspect - they are far easier to fly, far more stable and their speed will match your ability & intentions far more consistently. They relaunch way easier as well - you will have enough trouble with that straight up anyway. Dont make it harder or longer than it needs to be. When youve got it sussed then go buy your FUEL & just sit back in awe of the speed & power instead of spending your early days swearing about it !
13M ??? bit big maybe in L/A variety definately too big when its a Fuel ur talking about. But do get the size that will get you on the water for the most time ie dont go smaller cos they tell you its safer - its not - its just less time with good wind. My main learner @ 70kgs was a 12M Cabrinah Access - perfect in Perth for the end of the season last year but I did buy a 9M GTO (L/A) as well to get out when the 12M got too scary so 10m may have been a better single kite option for my weight .
IMO board size too - take the easy option for learning - get something you can STAND ON while you get your kite organised. 160 or more is great.
May only need this stuff for a short time but theres lots out there about to follow you that will gladly take a good learners kit off your hands.
Disclaimer - all this is just 'IMHO' - others will tell you all sorts of different things Everyone is entitled to an opinion its just that all the others are wrong

Good Luck - it just keeps gettin betta
