Gday Guys,
i have started kiteboarding this year and still learning and i was just wondering if a kitboarding club would be a great way to go? i would like to get out and meet some new people from the kiting community and really get into it, but previous clubs ive been in for eg car clubs havent been all that good, so i wanted to know before i put down the money are they worth while and if so when and where is the best time to sign up?

initiation into new clubs generally involves setting your bum hairs on fire and kiting naked whilst inserting tennis balls up ya bum. just kidding, kitesurfing clubs arent buerocratic like car clubs but seabreeze is a club in itself.

Hey KDA, there are a few local clubs that are part of AKSA, in your case NSWKBA.
http://www.nswkba.com.au/
Membership includes insurance which starts in September.
I'm not sure how much actually happens in clubs other than the odd BBQ and a chance to hook up with local kiters.
We'll be kicking off the South Coast and Canberra Club with a season opener BBQ in September.

Forget it!
There are no REAL kitesurfing clubs!
Just go to the best spot you can find on a regular basis and you will find that the kiters there will most likely have an informal "club"
But for sure check out NSWKBA to check for any get togethers.

Thanks,
as still beeing new to the sport still learning and all, i had found it hard to try and get out with other kiters as im still a bit nervous and dont know anyone and is hard when asking for assistance with launching, the kiting schools seem to be helping but are not in my local area. and was wanted to know if the local kiting clubs may have been a good idea.

Yeh User is right, youve joined the club already.
Just get down to the water regularly and you will see the same faces there and get to know people.
The majority of kiters ive met have been freindly, helpfull and encouriging.
Maybe join youre state kiting association for some social events and insurance cover.

Try not to be too nervious, I know its daunting when youre not really sure of what you are doing. Explain that you are a nooby and most will be happy to help and give advice, just try not to do stupid things, and sit and watch how people are launching and landing kites so you arent molesting their kites and draging them over shells and shiet when you launch for others. Also dont be in a rush to set up, make sure yore lines etc are sorted so youre not wasting their time when getting a launch.
If you are kiting where you take youre lessons then there should be some other begginers down there too, hook up with them so you can help each other without too much pressure.

Dude, you just have to get out there. At first when i started kiteboarding i didn't really head out as i knew no one and didn't have the confidence to go by myself. Then one day i just said f*** it and headed out. Was pretty nervous the first few times setting up and talking to others but after 3-4 go's at it, it comes natural and you start getting heaps more confident. Now every time i head out i always meet atleast one new person, as kiters are always willing to help you out and have a chat.
Anyone know what the Vic club is like?
