Hi all,

A mate of mine is lending me his catamaran in airlie beach. I will be island hopping for 5 days at the begining of July.

as most of the posts on here relate to kiting hamilton or airlie, I was wondering if anyone could point out a couple of good mooring points or island destinations where I could grab the kite and let the wife sunbathe/snorkel with the kids?

This is a lifetime ambition being met so I am really looking forward to the week up at the islands.

Any help / suggestions will be gratefully received.

UUUUMMMMMMMMMM, can give you some spots that would blow your mind, but they are really hard to explain how to find them, sssooooooooooo if you fly me up there and supply all food and beer I will be happy to show you.

PS a carton a day is all I would need.

Whitehaven Beach, Perfect for families, if it is South Easter go to the northern part where the inlet is.

I spent a week on a boat in the islands in Feb this year. Part from Whitehaven, I did not see many places big enough to launch a kite (I did not take my gear with me anyway, but kept an eye out for spots... of course!). Whitehaven was very chopy...

Also, when choosing a mooring for the night, you want to be on the downwind of an island, so you do not get a rough sleep. As a result it will be hard for you to:
1- find a beach with sufficient space
2- be on that beach when the wind is facing the right directions

Might be an idea to take short lines, so you do not need too much space to launch?

Enjoy, this area is awesome!
