Hey,
Just wondering if someone can tell me what the standard materials are used for kites. Want to know both for the leading edge, and main canopy. Also the lines would be good too. Cheers

Hey mate,
We use a combination of materials on our kites. The Waroo 07 canopy is a polyester rip stop and the leading edge/struts is Dacron Dimension Polyant. The Waroo pro has the same material for the canopy, the leading edge is a Cuben/Dacron Hybrid material with multidirectional fiber alignment which is made exclusively for us. This allows us to get a reduced, stiffer leading edge and gain the highest performing kite.
Hope this helps.

Kite lines are usually spectra or dyneema. These are both trade names for high modulus polyethylene. In fact - I've never seen anything else used on a kitesurfing kite.

Hey Shannon,
I see that the new Cuben being used by Best is a laminate of Cuben and Dacron. Is this cloth heavier than just plain dacron? I was surprised to see people reporting that the WP is actually heavier than a regular W. I would have thought that if the cloth is stronger and the LE reduced in diameter (less material) that the kite should be lighter?

Cheers.
