I have just been checking out some kiteboards on the net that look more like snowboards than kiteboards.(same planshape as a snowboard).

Whats the go with the "scoop rail"?
I understand how it works on the snow but how does that theory apply to water?

Bewildered!

You talking about the spleen board. Apparently it helps going upwind in light wind when you cant really dig the rail that hard.

Wipika made one years ago (2002) called the Park. This is from their old catalogue, hope it helps:

Park 160, 170
Length/width: 160/37, 170/38.1 cm
Fins: 4 optional polyester wake style.
CONSTRUCTION:
Solid PVC core, fiberglass sandwich
wrap. Wood layer included for added
strength. Super durable Formica base.
DESCRIPTION:
Is it your snowboard, skateboard or
kiteboard? The Park is a new realm of
kiteboarding Wipka sees as the next
frontier. The Park’s parabolic side cut
and progressive flex pattern are a
potent combo for powering upwind.
Reverse camber and a flat bottom give
the Park a super slick skate feel for
new school moves.
FEATURES:
 Multiple insert positions allowing for
footstrap placement.
Formica bottom and wood layer for the
ultimate in durability.
 Asymmetrical footstraps.

"The Park is a new realm of kiteboarding Wipka sees as the next
frontier."

"give the Park a super slick skate feel for
new school moves."

Had to laugh as these lines seem to be used to market any kite or board and any brand.

ie "The Hellfish is a new realm of kiteboarding Best sees as the next
frontier."

Probably would have sold better if Wipika chucked in a free set of steak knives.

Sorry didnt answer your question glaucus atlanticus as I cant have an answer for everything.

Yeah the "spleen" board was the one I was looking at.

Anyone around here actually ridden one?

Do they work? Or is it all marketing hype?

Strange creatures. But I`m always up for something better!

yeah they work, but you would probably get more satisfaction sitting at home looking up porn, then riding in 4knots on a door.
