I have been hearing lots of reports from kiting people and non kiting people about kite boarders having no respect for the safety of other beach goers. not going to name beaches or spots but I think we figure the main culprits. I think this is pretty bad, as we all know how dangerous kites can be, and how hard kites come down. I reckon if it is crowed with families and kids it is a no go zone.
there are plenty of other spots with no one around and heaps of room to crash and do what ever you want. No one deserves to be hurt through your actions. not only this, kiting will be banned soon at these spots which will only lead to other issues. being a dad myself and quite over protective of my kids, I would quite simply tell you to leave but not in a nice way.
all I know is that there is a big ocean out there, so get out there and use it and leave these kid friendly spots to the kids.

It all comes down to common sense, give kiters a bit of space while launching and landing (this is when 99.9% of bad stuff happens) and they will appreciate it and get off the beach quick, leaving you to enjoy it with your kids (trust me when i say no kiter wants to stand on a beach when the wind is blowing). I wouldnt walk across a road without getting eye contact from the driver im about to walk in front of, my safety is not his responsibility it is mine, and your a fool if you think otherwise.

The amount of times people do stupid **** around me while launching or landing is ridiculous, even when i yell, just wait there a min (for their own safety) while the kite is halfway up to self launch they try walk through my tensioned lines or run directly at the kite (one can only assume this is on purpose because no one can really be this stupid) and it is not exactly like i am pressed for room at low tide at Sandgate (QLD) but if something did happen it would be the evil kiters fault not the knob pushing the point that he 'has just as much right to use the beach as me' even though there is a km of beach with no one else there.

Even my friends 4 year old understood to stand behind me while launching the other day and he thought it was awesome to watch the kite go up 'he was a little disappointed it didn't take me to the moon' but he was excited to watch as 99% of the public are.

If there is a kiter out there who is being reckless and stupid around people the rest of us will tell him to pull his/her head in but you sound like one of the above mentioned douches who purposefully makes it dangerous for us.

I agree, you would be nuts to set up in a kite boarding area, I am more referring to kiters who set up when everyone has been there all day and start trying to slay it in a crowded area, its not hard to go to another spot. I am referring to Currumbin alley and botany in Sydney. maybe these people need to start to learn to ride the open water cause the options are endless. at the end of the day I don't really give a **** as it doesn't affect me at all, but makes kiteboarders look like knobs, and we have enough of these in the world already.

I just keep swooping them till they run back to their park... Like a magpie... Ark! Ark! Or maybe a crow....
Then I go back and sit under my bridge....and wait patiently....
