One thing is for sure must be alot of kiters waiting for that wind on the east coast.

I'm from Bris but I get down there every now and then. I don't know of any spots around there that work on a westerly. I posted a question about it ages ago but didn't hear anything back from the locals I think. Ballina has a harbour but I don't know if it works in a westerly.

From my experience it's not a great area to find flat water kiting - you have to be comfortable in the surf. There's lots of open easterly facing beach tho!

Holy crap kited wello today (thurs)in like 25-35knots straight Westerly on my 9m and was just fully lit & hangin on, wasn't much fun. SOoOoOOoOOO GuStY , but good to get that need to kite feeling out of your system.

Hey Richo, the LF pads are soooo good, i could only fit them on the board in one position due to my board being only 36 wide, luckily the way they fit is perfect, otherwise they sit almost on the edge of the rail. Anyway I havn't been able to give them a proper test yet due to lack of wind and now too much wind (cant win atm) but very very happy with the feel of them so far.

were many down there psylor? sounds like it would have been too much for me on a 12 anyway - the graphs look way gusty.

Looks like it's on for Sat avo or Sunday, for those with balls of brass. I hate to kite when I'm freezing, but it's been so long since a session.. gotta weigh it up!

I might have my aero 14 back in the air by Sunday, after 6 months, 2 sewing machines, hours and hours of reading/testing/unpicking/taping/ironing/stressing and breaking boxes of bloody sewing machine needles, I've finally *almost* finished the repairs. Just some final sewing, sticking the bladders back in and testing. Can't wait to see a kite that was almost in 2 bits get back into the air for a total cost of $40! Sunday's lookin like good 14 weather

Oh... If it's too much for you guys on a 12 or 14, then it will be way too much for me on my 10m... I really need to get myself a 5 or 6m kite very soon by the look of the wind - very unpredictable wind this time too... I can always practice body dragging, and water starts... but this time I will make sure I am on the Straddy side of the Wello spit so
I don't end up at Manly if it's 2 strong!

Windy Weekend...

elizabeth - SW or W should be fine on the manly side of the spit - be careful on the straddie side when it is blowing directly over the spit, because if you end up in a deep patch where you cant stand you wont be able to get back its do-able though as long as your not too close to high tide and stay aware - low tide to a mid outgoing tide would be fine as it is shallow waaay out, but you'd be suprised how deep it gets on a king tide. ive had the swim back in a westerly when i was a newb it was cold and not very fun....

straddie side is ok in N, NE and SE as you can always drag back to the point or the island if you cant stand up.

Um there was little me on my 9m, big paulio on a 12m & jason 12m from the GC & i think Daryl on an 8m & another guy with an 8m both Caution kites, and another guy who rides on flysurfer kites (not sure what size)
The guys with the 8m kites even looked like they were way overpowered.
I think even a few windsurfers were having trouble.
I reckon i would have been sweet on a 6m or 7m today, lol

Thanks so much 4 that Mark It was just a bit 2 strong 4 me last sunday - I was just being pulled 2wards the Manly way and had 2 crash the kite down, the board was floating away and I couldn't get back to it (but Libby got it 4 me), and had to swim back... I couldn't touch bottom then -- that was scarry with the kite pulling me deeper...

Troy and I were watchin u all, and u scored some sweet jumps there... Couldn't believe u were still out there on ur 18 and not way over-powered...

Thanks heaps Mark!

Cya hopefully on the weekend

Elizabeth - Wello Gromm

And psylor, thats most likely grommie on the caution, cuz Kluver's too heavy for an 8m I'd say...

Heck, now that is windy and strong gusts... Kluver and the others seem pretty strong also..

I respect those guys so much with their riding.. It's so amazing what they can do and how it seems so simple... Grommie, Daz and Kluver with their speed, jumps and flips, Zebb, Libby, Troy, Baz, Mark and Henry and the others, are all so wonderful to me... They have all helped me so much and given me so much advice with everything... Even after having 2 two hour lessons, there is so much more that I need to learn about everything, and they have all been so nice, welcome and willing to help me ... I feel so lucky that their all willing to help me...

Anyway.. hope its not too windy this weekend for me... see some of you down there...

Eliz all you need to ride in those conditions is get an operation, 1/. remove half your brain
2/. severe all nerve endings in feet and hands(too cold reasons)
3/. attach a set of 'go-nads' to yur lower half, and you should be able to kite in these conditions. And if you dont at least you will have sumthin to play with instead of rubbin yur eyes.

Best o luck

Kited at Redcliffe yesterday on a 10m - pretty out of control!
Went the biggest I have ever been though at one stage out the back which was fantastic and a bit eerie at the same time.

Kiteboy Dave you are welcome to any of my kit to use if your 14 doesn't work out.
