I've been shooting up to Broome quite a bit over the last 4 months. Every trip I have been pleasantly surprised and scored wind.
In saying this, be prepared to fly bigger kites. My stable quiver up there was a 12 and 14m with winds mostly around 13 – 18 knots.

You can kite in any wind direction. When it blows from the east Town Beach is the go. Most of my kiting however was done down on Cable beach in a WSW. You can kite straight out the front of the surf club or if there’s to much west in the wind head down to Gantheaume Point where it will be more cross-on. Down winders from Gantheaume to Cable Beach Club are fun.

On Cable Beach the big tides weren’t really a problem. On an incoming tide there are fun little waves, on an outgoing tide its butter flat. When the tides out landboarding would be a great option.
Town Beach is a bit scary with all the water rushing in/out of Roebuck Bay.

The wind graphs seem to underestimate the wind strength, especially if there is some south in it. It’s always worth popping down and checking it yourself.

All the locals I have talked to say the best wind is in the dry season.
They are now into there wet season and the wind is a bit more hit and miss.
Cyclones would make things interesting.
Nevertheless I’ll still be taking my gear up over the coming months.
Irukandji can be a problem at this time of the year so a stinger suit may be the go. Crocs are not an issue.

Be prepared to have people scrambling over each other in the shallows to get a picture of you sailing off into the Cable Beach sunset.

Quite simply; Broome is a great place to kite.
