Hi,

I am off to noosa and caloundra for 10 days so I was wondering about some good locations to go kiting up there. Also should i be lugging the larger kites with me ...being 100kg I need a lot of ripstop to get me going.....was considering the 10m ocean rodeo and the 15m instinct.

All advice gratefully received.

cheers

What about lake weyba ,stummers creek, sunshine to coolum, mudjimba to yaroomba, Kawana stretch, there a heaps of places to kite i reckon you will be fine to get here than check it out and decide what you want to ride, 10m 15m should cover you but thats still personal preference! Flat, surf ,downwinder its all here now where is that wind hmmmmm!

Notblaming this on you, but no matter what i say, even if its a good thing people give it heaps of thumbs down just because i ride slingshot kites, (whats wrong with slingshot?), i think people dont like me because im young and they think im just a poser. ive been kiting for 8 months, i think my progression has been real quick and know this season is gonna be good so maybe some people will realise that im getting good now, maybe that will change their attitude about me. or maybe the way i type sounds really agressive or somthing like that, **** them,i dont care what other people think about me!

on almost every post its got thumbs down, it just pisses me off!

see already after 10 mins i got thumbs down, WTF.

I didnt thumbs down you mate....I was glad of the advice you gave regarding kiting up norf.

To be honest, I didnt even know you could thumbs down people.

Nothing wrong with slingshot kites either (unless its a link from the horrific feedback etc).

Cheers

May I ask what people have against Aden????

Why are some of you so critical towards him?

Aden is a kitesurfer, he is 15, and his kite of choice is a Slingshot - all of which he is proud of and passionate about.

I think most of you are passionate about the sport so there is no need to be so critical all the time.

This is supposed to be fun for everyone and helpful and if someone replies to a topic with their opinion, why be so quick to shoot them down?

Back on topic, grogamanda, Golden Beach (caloundra) and I like Lake Weyba

Yer I know, I wasn't blaming it on you grogamanda.
Lake Weyba is sick, can be kinda gusty and choppy but it always ends up being a fun session out there.
Golden beach is definately my favourite aswell as Noosa rivermouth. I learned at golden beach aswell, it's really great because it has a reaally slow run in tide so it keeps you upwind enough but wont sweep your board away when you crash.
Quite a few nice fellas up there aswell which helped me out, and you might see Andy Yates out there if he's not travelling or anything, but he would probably be futher out at the river mouth, which you can kite to from golden beach. alot stronger tide at the mouth tho, and when the tide changes to an incoming tide then all you have to do is kite back to golden beach (if southerly you will want incoming tide at golden beach but out going tide at rivermouth.) thats why its so sick because kite mouth until tide goes wrong then kite golden beach for incoming tide, or the other way around.
Thanks aswell mytchook, pretty much everything you said, i wanted someone to say about me!
Oh and by the way, i dont ride the link, i ride the REV. the link isnt actually a bad kite its just really troublesome.

I know where your coming from dude, I have noticed a couple of times your name has had a red mark. Mentioning brandnames is like mentioning religon. Someone is bound to take offence.

Be cool, and dont take it personally, you have earned majority of the seabreeze comunities respect, including myself.

Back to the topic...
Pretty much anywhere here on the Sunny Coast is good, but being the selfish local I am I would have to recommend the Gold Coast.

ADEN, people are just doing the thumbs down because you've started taking offense at it...[}:)] as soon as anyone gets concerned with the thumbs down people just do it for a laugh. Don't take anything on this forum seriously - other than good advice and you'll be OK.

There are some good sessions to be had on the Sunny Coast now that we are heading into the weather season. Had a few cracking surfs on the weekend. What a place.

Yeh I know mate!
Today the wind should pick up nicely(enough) and maybe be able to get a kite out at castaways.
Grogamanda when do you arrive here at Noosa,
and Friday and Saturday should be NE, it's not showing anything over 12knots but it normally will pick up when we get closer to those days.
If you go to Noosa rivermouth you'll be able to kite in (i.e about 3knots less than you normally could because of te run OUT tide!)

Does anyone kite Lake Cootharaba in a NW thru SW?
Could be great to kite when it is blowing offshore...

(Camped there (Elanda Point) in Early December a few years back had a blast in S/ SE and kids loved the shallow water - walking 100 - 150 metres out).
Did not explore over the east (seaward) side of Lake - would need to go over at Tewantin to North Shore but do not know about access around lake.

Any takers
Cheers

Cootharaba is a good place for learners no current, shallow, sand bottom an always other learners there to help you launch land etc, pretty gusty tho.

Aden, here is a little test.

I ride best waroo kites....they rock
Now bring on the red thumbs haa haa

oh yeh the tides are all wrong for the river mouth this week for NE, hope it gets up enough for some downwinders

Hey Phil, did you have fun Friday evening at the rivermouth, it looked like it kicked in nicely when I left.
hopefully the wind decides to pick up early moring, then might get a kite in at river mouth.(ive noticed that the rivermouth starts to go nice and smooth after about 3 hours of the tide running out.) But it is really high tides at the moment, (the low is 0.65 or something around that.)
It would be awsome to do some downwinders in the NE, i havent done many in NE winds but it normally is alot cleaner.
See you out there maybe.

AAMOF its looking pretty good. Northerlys for 7 days straight! Usually the coast tends to generate a bit more NE seabreeze then they initially predict which means we could be in for an epic weekend...

Yer, coz today was predicted at 2-6knts NE, but was actually maybe, 13-15/16, at one point picked up nicely >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ^^^.
Imagine how good this weekend is gonna be then.

It's pretty clean if its atleast 15knts. But if it's over about 23knts then its so gusty that your kite wont stay up because the wind will come from every direction at once.
And when its under 12/13knts its normally more of an on/off wind!
THIS IS AT LAKE WEYBA, not too sure bout Cootharaba.
