the chance of getting wind in dec is pretty remote - its the wet season

nowhere to hire gear in legian

yes you can hire gear in Sanur - 100us for a half day

plan on swimming in the pool or going shopping

why dont you check bouy weather for wind history

cheers

Sorry Bruce,
but depend where you go for hire....
At the Bali Kitesurfing School they charge 650.000 rp for half day, about 72 US$ at current exchange rate and you can actually change any kite or board following the wind conditions, once you pay for half day you can use it for as long as you want.
Also as there is no certainty for the wind instead of giving multiple days packages (where you pay wind or not wind!!).
You get a price that is lowering each day.... 650 the first 600 the second till 550 from the third onward...

Just for everyone information... Since the 1 of July I'm not involve anymore with the Bali Kitesurfing School.
I sold it to the local crew of Balinese Kiter that helped me to create it.
Kadek and the Bali rippers are the best.

December could be really windy or really nothing... it goes with luck...
Every year between December and March we get about 3 weeks in a row of good wind up to 20 over knots.... but you never know when this 3 weeks are going to happen!!!! Hurricane in Darwin usually bring good wind....

By the way,
in all the forecast program: buoyweather, windfinder, windguru...
The forecast are quite accurate, at least for the next day or two..
The wind history and the wind report doesn't work!!! Not sure why....
Look at today www.windfinder.com/report/kuta?utm_source=www.windfinder.com&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=redirect
but we had about 15-16 knots most of the day...
If you see tomorrow forecast
www.windfinder.com/forecast/kuta
looks quite ok and there should be good wind, but if you look again to the widn report in the middle of the day it always show 8-9 knots.....
Bye Jankie

sorry jankie i thought both schools were the same price

in that case i reckon thats a pretty good good deal

some us that just went to bali paid over 200 aus just in excess baggage

i saw their gear and they have a good range and it looks decent

It would be hassle free way of having a kite while your there

Just got back from Bali this morning (surfing) and was also rudely surprised by Jetstar's new baggage requirements... We went last Nov and every piece of sporting equipment accounted for 5kg's of your 20kg allowance, this time that is gone and you have 20kg's checked allowance and 10kg's of carry on. We just got lucky that we were traveling with someone who had a bag of clothes small enough for to carry on otherwise we would have been up for ~$180 excess baggage fees.

Does anyone know what the go is with Garuda?

yes garuda is not much better -

it just depends on the day

Had some of my crew fly malasian and singapore they all got stung for round 200aus

best advise with jetstar is to pre buy some excess 40 aus for 5 extra kilos
