i just bought a 2nd hand kite, it looks as though the previous owner has extended the lines (attatched thicker lines to bar and end of original lines, the length including the extension is about 27m
i am a beginner, should i leave the line long or shorten them?
thanks

some older kites/bars had long leeder lines so it may just be because of this, 27m is about a standard length these days, some people might have 30m and others down to 15m or even 10m. theres pro's and cons to the line length you choose and reasons for choosing shorter over longer etc.

27m is absolutly fine, I wouldnt bother about changing them.

Stick to the 27m till your a competant kiteboarder, they are pretty much standard lenghts. With shorter lines the kite will fly a lot faster, turn quicker and thus if your beginning you will crash the kite a lot more. Unless your kite skills are up to it it will probably scare the heck out of you.
