What is the best way for me to drop my kite when I don't have someone to catch it?

if not too windy try land it on sand, and pull 1 centre line alone closest to you straight away to turn it on the ground into wind

make sure you have a safety leash incase it flipps backwards, which can happen

if you have a reride safety leash system (where the bar slides up one line) then make that one line the top one as you lower your kite to the sand. With it about 4m off the beach put the kite into a slight dive so it's looking like it will crash. Then let go of everything except your safety leash line. Hopefully this will pull the one wing tip down and get the kite to land gracefully on the sand better then your friend could have placed it for you.
I have done this brilliantly and (thought I) looked real cool. But be really aware that there's a good chance it won't work, and the kite will do backflips (as mentioned before) and it will proceed to cause havok in a 30m radius down wind. So give yourself good room!!! (you should give yourself room always anyway!) and make sure your saftely leash line is free of tangles or problems.
Hope this helps.

I have tried the above method a few times but didnt have much luck.
(might need someone to show me properly)
I usually stand on the beach and fly the kite slowly into the water and as it lands let go of the bar and hold on to the safty leash and pull it towards me (make sure there is no one down wind as it usualy flaps around a bit )It doesnt look to pretty but it does the job.
