hi we are thinking about staying in a nice hotel on a beach in the Kihei area, the beach faces west so i can't understand how the NE trades work here and if its any good for kiting in this area, also are there any waves on this side and if so where do you go ?, any help would be really good as I can't work out where to stay.
thanks

Its a nice area but not good in the NE trades. If the trades fail then the wind sometimes comes from the SW (light and gusty though and you can kite there. Surf wise only small reef breaks along the local coast (or nasty shore dump) some nice longboardable waves though.
The north shore is the place to go for the trades.
