Yes a single fin requires a totally different approach to the wave and really only responds well to smooth carving turns. When running straight ie not on an edge they can get quite twitchy.
But they were probably all pretty stoned when Filming Morning of the earth so that probably has an effect as well.
If you like morning of the earth you will probably really like "Shelter" more modern but same style filmed on the NSW North Coast (lennox byron area ) also "September Sessions " my three favourite surf films all with ripping / groovy soundtracks.
