i think that the shire is puting bouys 200m out and all kiters have to stay on the outside and only use the beach for launch and landing
that is what i was told today dont know if it is going to happen or just spin

Would that be along the whole beach or just in front of the surf club?

I am wondering how they can control this ,they can't control the robbers in the car park so how are they going to control 25 kites on the beach hard to believe

Mmm, I think it would be a good idea to do it in front of the surf club for tourists and for those who dont know the boundaries.

Grumble.......grumble.......mutter....

Dont know where you got the info from, but I recon its spin,
Heres a bit of good news:
Councilor Macdonald resigned 2 months before the end of her term, stating that she was wasting her time on various issues on Joondalup city council.
She was the Councilor driving the ban last season, lets see who will be the leading force in the future.

Hi All,

Joondalup Council elections are on now.

Write to the candidates in your ward & the mayoral candidate and vote for the one who doesn't sound like they will just ban it outright.

the guy last year was pretty good about it... and i can fully understand having those bouys around the surf club is a good idea provided it doesnt affect the whole beach. people kiting around the surf club and flags should get smacked up until the realise they shouldnt ride there and move further north to where kiting should be.

Hi all,
I am one of the people on the Mullaloo Kiters committee (formerly Mullaloo Users Group) and what I can tell you is that we have written to Joondalup Council suggesting a number of measures which could be implemented in order to help guide kiters into launching/landing and kiting in the correct places. One thing which we all agree on is the need to stop people kiting in amongst the swimmers in front of the surf club and so we conceed that there is a need to ban kiting 250m North, 250m South and 250m offshore of the surf club. We have suggested the use of buoys to indicate this area. Whilst we are against the banning of kitesurfing (obviously) it was felt that this was a good compromise and demonstrates a willingness to compromise and do the right thing. For the locals at Mullaloo this will have no effect on them anyway as we all know to stay away from the surfclub.

Spot, can I ask where you heard about the 200m buoys (PM me) and when, as I have had no official response from Joondalup Council as yet and I am wondering if there are 2 different activities going on in relation to this.

Regarding the council elections, I did receive a call from Mayor Pickard asking for mine and kitesurfers support in the elections. I asked him his opinion on the kiting situation at Mullaloo and despite his reply being typical 'politician' speak, I believe his preferred option is to find a solution where the beaches can be used by all. He was sensible in relation to this matter in council earlier this year, so I have no reason to believe different now. You should have received postal voting forms and I for one will be voting for Pickard.

Buoys along the whole beach? they're having a laugh ......is that to go with the coast line shark nets?, mind you that would actually serve a beneficial purpose.

Just poke your nose in the air can you smell it already?

**** shark nets off... hey lets help in the deaths of thousands of marine animals by putting nets in the water so that people (who dont actually belong in the ocean) can swim around knowing that that one in a couple of thousand chance that they might get bitten has been reduced.

if ur not completely stupid u would realise there are already fishing restrictions in place banning fishing of certain areas during certain times of year to aid in breeding. you will also realise that fishing has purpose, to feed. where as the sharknets killing dolphins, turtles, wales, fish and other such animals to stop one shark attack every few years doesnt do anything except waste valuable marine life.

ok so we had a fair few attacks last summer but apart from that we dont have significant numbers of attacks each year in WA to justify such measures.. people should just be smart enough not to go treading in their territory during feed times.

its like when u go into the african bush do you think they are going to put ALL the lions in cages or fence them off just so you can go walk around like an idiot and look at them? no.

ocean is the place where we go to enjoy what we do so it is the place we should work hard at conserving.
