Just thought I'd ask whoever is in the know on how the freestyle scoring is going to be worked out in the nats.... if you've decided yet or asked anyone on the forums....

and if you havn't... add some ideas ... everyone welcome to comment/add

I recon you could have set points for set moves.... and score around there based on how clean the move was.. and add or minus some for variations/grabs or what ever..some moves will be different to the set score moves ..but look similar to others and so score could be fudged

you could get scored on jumps out ,jumps back , transitions, and style all seperately, which would stop people from just doing the same 4 moves over and over in front of the judgeing area going the same way , which is what usually happens, and at the end of the day... all your left with really... on the score sheet is "these" are this perons 3 best moves and thats it, they may not be able to do anything else, but these are the 3 best point scorers so he wins... which i think is wrong....

make it more of a show and you'd be getting judged out, back, and transitionally ... and for a style score .. would basically get like a ranking in your heat out of ten or whatever the perfect score is .. the dude who made the biggest impression gets the higher style score

then take the two best jumps scores out , back, and transition and then add them up and add in double your style score or something... to get a final allround score .which is only relevent to the other people in your heat... and progres through on highest 2 totals go through...

Hi dachopper

There has been and still is a lot of work being done on the way the Nats are going to be run .
You can get a full overview of the system on the WAKSA site at
www.waksa.org.au

A few months ago we did ask for everyone to put forward thier ideas .
Since then Ian set up a system that was used at the GG and was very well recieved by most . From that a few things have been changed after all involved were asked to make comment again .
AKSA also put together a special comp commitee to look at the whole process of judging and scoring for freestyle as well as the waves .

AKSA and WAKSA are only trying to do the best they can and make it as fair and objective as possible . For this the more comments and feed back we get the better the system can be fine tuned .

To all the people out there that want to contribute in any way , your efforts are extremely welcome and would be greatly appreciated .
At the nationals we still require volunteers to help out with scoring as well as a number of other things .

Please contact us at [email protected] if you are able to help in any way .

Thank you
Mike Bergman
