why would you want a 13m? imo better off with a smaller kite and larger board

weight 90kgs,and looking for a light wind setup,thought a 12 -13 would be around the mark ?
a larger board to learn on,and a smaller as i gain expirience ?

13m sounds fine for 90kg. I'd lean towards the Cabrinha personally but have only flew the ss a couple of times. I assume you're starting witha 2nd hand kite so really comes down to price and condition, both are good stable kites well suited to beginners.

ha ha which ones the Newbie??

Cab probably has about 8 pullies that will rust and need replacing at $20 a pop, but I prefer the bar setup of the Cab personally (not a big fan of under the bar trim).

Hey Griff - pulling like a train is not exactly a comment you would make about a good kite
Some may like it but definitely not at the start end of the journey.

@ pirrad - IMO unless you are in an extreme light wind area eg Darwin or Broome you would be well advised to go well under 13M for your first kite. It all depends on the winds you are likley to be going out in but there are very few places where @ 90kgs you should be steered towards a 13M.
We could advise better if we knew where you are.
Of the 2 you are considering the REV is a standout. Not wanting to dis Cabrinah or the Xbows, they were revolutionary in their day, but they are Generation 1 SLE's - things moved on quickly. The REV (1 or 2) is a Gen 2 SLE - much less problematic than the Xbow.

I found the steering on the xbow to be heavy and a bit sluggish due to the 2:1 set up (good depower though). In saying that mates of mine loved it as a first kite. Haven't flown the rev before....
