hi, im going to lake macquarie (near newcastle i believe) over christmas/new year for a sailing event and was wondering if it was worth taking my kiting gear.
i was just wondering if many people kite there and where to go (ocean or lake or bothe)and the conditions( wind strength, direction, waves, chop)

any help would be much apreciated

Yep, bring your gear.

Go to page 2 of the general posts... someone asked this same question just last week, all the info there.

Hey Leo,
Blacksmiths beach in a NE sea breeze....5 mins from LMYC or the 16 footers. Waves aren't great but enough to ride. Nobby's and Dixon 30 mins north but much better waves. Caves beach 15 mins in SE beach break with bommies out the back. Squids (in the lake and as flat as....5 mins) in NW. Swansea fishing Co-op (lake) in SW. Plenty more spots but these are fairly popular.

I race on the lake and no-one in the racing scene kites as far as I know so you'll definately need to suss out local kiters for any more info etc. At the beaches youve got the flagged swimming areas to watch out for. In the lake the power lines and trees can make the launch tight if you dont know the right spot...do as the locals and always watch the other side of the lake in westerlies as they can get squally and nail the unwary bigtime. Pretty much bank on NE 4 days a week at that time of year.Andy at Board Crazy and Lach at Kiteworks are both good blokes to get local info from.

Welcome to Lake Mac...you'll have a hoot kiting and the racing is epic too.
0412 725 717 if you get stuck
Cheers
Tezza
