, Stocko has it's plus's and negs' aswell though..
If you want flat water you need to go near the groin at stocko... have you seen how many people are on the beach and swim next to the groin in summer, it's absolutely chockers usually... so you can kite in the 1 spot on the 34km beach that has garanteed flat water, probably with a big bunch of people there if it's a sunny NE day... or go the pool at the end of nobbies that never has any 1 in there or at the beach near it ..
but has some reef, also has excellent swell onto the reef right there in front of you
plus if it's SE or further S than that , which the summer breezes usually are... now you've got crap gusty winds blowing over the city and nobbies hill area to make the flat water spot more unenjoyable.....
I think at the end of the day stockton is a good spot due it's open spaces and larger margin for error that it affords people who are accident prone or massive kite meetings with lots of people
Nobbies is a good location because the NE - SW breeze is cleaner than stockton and you've got flat water on a low tide + reef break and massive swell 100 meters from the beach right next to each other.
and thats why every1 minus 3 kite at the end of nobbies instead of at stockton
for people who havn't heard on the grapevine aswell.. kites cannot be landed in the carpark or launched from the carpark at nobbies any more( dumb idea anyhow)... and you need to rig up & ride to the NE end of the beach, further NE than the new walkway ( just shy of the S end of the reef) ie: setup and kite in the top half of the head
there aren't any signs in place down there telling you that either
