I’m just curious.
I’ve always been envious of those one pump kites, you know the ones that only require you to stick the pump in one spot and inflate the entire kite. It sounds like a pretty convenient feature. Like liquid forces spider inflation or slingshots one-pump system.

But one thing that occurred to me is what would happen if you got a leak, obviously the entire kite deflates but is it an easy one to fix, I would imagine it would be quite a difficult job if all the bladders were integrated like that.

So basically are they easy to fix if they have a leak?

Yeah man,

They're all seperate. Just hoses connect them and the hoses have clips which isolate each bladder. If one leaks then they others stay pumped.

One pump kites are great fast and very easy to pump up.I ride naish kites and all there kites are basically one pump.

Although if something were to go wrong it will be alot more difficult to repair than a standard kite.Naish have a website called naish tv where they will show how to repair it if something were to go wrong.

As for if the leading edge were to go down the struts will stay inflated as they have one way valves internally built in the octopus system.

My Nova's system sounds like the Naish. You don't need to remember to set clips on the connecting tubes like the SS. It's got one way valves on the struts, so when you're pumping the LE, they open up and let air in once LE gets to a certain pressure.

Each strut also has a one way deflate valve, but if you want, you can turn it into a two way valve for quicker deflation using a built in plastic peg, so you don't have to sit there all afternoon squeezing nipples.

(It's for sale too - don't know if I've ever mentioned that)

Hey Mike, I do love it, have to admit, it's 'kin great! I embarrassed myself the first time I flew, it, couldn't stop wooping.

If I wasn't heading OS in June, I'd take it off your hands for sure mate. You sure you haven't got a guy upstairs who'll take it off your hands for $100 more than me though???

It was $50 less and he was mightily pissed when I told him I'd sold it. Now tell me it wasn't worth every penny!

Kitesuffer,

Mmm, it was worth it I guess. It was also worth paying you out about your 'little man upstairs'. It's a great bargaining tactic, i'll be using it in future for sure.

in response to the original question...twice as quick to inflate the kite, ten times longer to repair. I had a small leak in the leading edge of my slingy - wasn't fun nor easy to repair, especially by yourself.

thanks heaps it was kinda what i expected.
sounds like a good feature but didnt know if i should get excited about it when looking for a new kite.
doesnt sound like a must have feature but the kites that include the wing tip as part of the leading edges sounds like a really good feature. the small struts on the wing tips for my kites are a b@st@rd to inflate properly.

yep rogue i've got one of each and the one pump kite is soo much easier and quicker to get going and also packing up. None of that annoying air escaping from the smaller struts..
