peoples,
please please please be careful when landing/launching from the grass at peli point, and also doing jumps just in front of the crowd, and big ass retaining wall.

yesterday someone lost control and a kite ended up over the grass and onto the road stopping traffic and coming close to a near tragety.

if u are experienced then ignore this, but remember to be ready for unexpected events.
if u are not that experienced, please land ur kite in the water or just fully depower the kite before dropping it near the road.

i (and i think i speak for a lot) enjoy using this spot as a quick after worker and dont want a ban put on kiting in the area.

remember, use caution....

I actually think experienced kiters need to be just as alert. Pushing their own limits, leaving too small a margin for error and just getting complacent has seen many experienced kiters ending up in walls, power lines etc around the world. We've all had close calls regardless of our ability. To the wind gusts we're all just kiters, it doesn't discriminate between beginner, experienced or anywhere inbetween.

woohoo

dont get me wrong killer, that is why i noted for everybody to be ready for unexpected suprises.
i just thought it was something newcomers to both the sport and the river in that area that dont know the conditions shud be aware before jumpin out there and accidently either treesurfing or roadsurfing like i have seen so many this season.

Caution,
Agree totally with what your saying. Tobe fair to the guy who lost hiskite down the road, it was the peanut who caught his kite by the rear edge instead of the leading and the thing just powered up again and he did well to bail. The same peanut did it to me 5 minutes earlier Make sure the person launching/landing your kite knows whats going on

hi all i am the peanut who "caused" that accident...

first of all i just wanna say i am sorry what for i am not sure (i might sound like an ass here, feel free to flame me)...

as the fella was bringing the kite down i was under it coz it came down fast didnt have a chance to move towards the leading edge... i was moving into position to grab it and he asumed that i grabed it and he let it go... i am not that experienced but its common sence more than anything ... i dont let go of my kite untill i see the person cathing it start walking with it ... i am not sure how it looked from the side but thats what happened ... i am not silly to catch the thing and then let it go ...

as for doing the same thing 5 minutes earlier i can not recal that ... i launched one guy that day and that was it ...

i hope you guys are not mad at me ... i am learning all the time and enjoying the sport

Good work for trying to assist. That's the kiting spirit. People sometimes forget what it was like when they were gumbies not that long ago.

I hope you are going to enjoy getting called 'Peanut' from now to the day you die.

Hey Peanut,
you are not the one at fault here, so don't worry about it . It was the others guys kite, so his responsibility. If he could not control his kite safely, he should not be out in the first place.
Went down to woodies yesterday arvo, heaps of kites out. No roads , powercables, posts, windsurfers ,yatchies or inocent passers bys to hit. Can't quite understand why people put their lives, and others at risk kiting at Peli point when there is kite heaven only 20 mins away!!!!
