I think you'll find Tassie blows it's head off most of the year but pack your dry suit in winter and pack your bows too as it can be gusty

Pretty blowy in Norfolk Island too!!! But don't expect you'd see 1 other kiter there

Actually Flinders Island is pretty blowy too! But don't expect you'd see 1 other kiter there either

We've been to Mackay two winters in a row and had riding every day. Nice local crew and beautiful place, although it's not super windy - in the 18-20kt range, but that was good enough for us!

Have a look at this on the Met Bureau site. Pretty definitive historical averages.

www.bom.gov.au/climate/averages/wind/selection_map.shtml

I know the trade winds up north are pretty constant in the winter, Cooktown, TI, not a bad part of the world either.

Can also support Cooktown as the windiest spot, unless you have boat connections or $$ and can get to Lizard Island. I looked at the wind roses mentioned in the previous post and can't see a better dry season figure. Torres Straight also very windy.

Out of 5 weeks at Lizard last winter, we had maybe 5 days too light to kite, 5 days on 11m, 20 days on 8m in 20-30kn, and 5 days of 35-40kn too strong to kite on the 8m.
