kitehards words of wisdom are well worth a read (plus many others )
I would really love to take the f**k you attitude to some of the poleboarders around here but days that are poleboard friendly here are few and far between so I let them have their fun for their one day of the month(in fact the wind has been so crap this year i reclaimed a mal I lent to a mate a couple of years ago)
i must say that when their sloggin along in 12-15 kts parked on the only wave of the day it is pretyy bloddy annoying. We had 27 kites a nobby's the other day and around 10 polers.it all seemed to work pretty well,A mate commented that he didn't see much boosting I replied that if you boosted you were likely to nail someone.Evryone shared the area and moved around .not much hogging of one spot
Life guards are still happy too.
the club has been a big plus(tho we haven't had a catchup for a cupla months.

Cheers

Hey float <moderated>! Have you ever windsurfed? or wavesailed? I assume the answer is no because before kitesurfing was invented you werent at nobbies, my bet is you were a dry land kite flyer in the park near nobbies..kiting on land is a kids sport when your 10yr old...your ability on a wave and in the air is bloody horrendouse mate, ive witnessed it...and "poling" in 15kt with good waves is sometimes ultimate, but i doubt you would have experienced that...and this goes to all you ****ers that see wavesailers bogging around, you think where doing nothing but we actually can bog out and catch waves, sometimes you can get the best waverides when its 15kt but you tossers wouldnt know because youve never done it or had the skill to balance on a board when its 12-15kt. You also ride a malibu because you probably cant ride a shortbord huh? so tell us to *** at nobbies but all you'll get is drop-ins from us mate..nice impact vest and sunnies you wear too, can never be to safe right?

Kiters excell in waves in the above conditions that you describe in your quote, Peto.
When it's 12-15 knots, I always make a point of checking out the grimace on the faces of the poleys.

They remind me of little sailboats, the masts sticking straight up vertical,
dogging along slowly in chug mode.
And they don't actually catch waves, they just seem to fall into them in the pus wind.

But what really gets up their goat is when kiters boost in those pus breezes.
Huge jumps off the wave faces and the poleys are busting a gut just trying to stay upwind.

Man, it's sad.

Kind Regards,
slave

Hey Peto,

You're on fire tonight, mate.
Are you stressing about wind ?
We've had truck loads here in the West for the past week.
Now it's raining and blowing strong from the east ??

yes guys its time to realise the wrongs we have done, this forum is not for having arguments over what sport is better whether it be bodyboarding vs surfing, rugby union vs league, rugby vs afl and of course land boarding vs kite boarding,.
laurie intended it be about hardies and prs relationship and finding the reason we wear bordies over are wettie

Poor old Peto, it's gotta be tough sticking to a dying sport.

Why you try and defend it is beyond me. I guess if you went to the snow you'd ride tele mark skis for down hill because they've been around for longer.

The earth is not flat mate.

Also, you should be sending your posts via Australia Post mate. I mean computers, ooh, they can't be any good, they use new technology. Stay well away from them, you might progress or something.

Hey Peto what are you doing in here?

Get over to the poleboarders forum from whence you came! There is no joy in here for you !

Seriously though, kiteboarders can **** on anyone. Surfers, poleboarders, goatboaters, jetskis. Well maybe not jetskis !

So,maybe we should cut them some slack ?

If they are getting waves, let them have them .They rarely get in the way.

jet skies, what does the average guy do with it to weren't the price, fishing no, rotto weekends no, diving no, wakeboarding? even if they can there's no wake for them. is there shelter form the sun no. if you were to use it for 45 hours before selling it

i love jet skis two saved us a fine by coming out the harbour at 30 knots when the cops were about to write us a fine for not having a pfd 1 for the little kid on board even tho he was wearing a type 3

Ben Le Pong and User,
you guys are so funny. How diluded can you be, I know you must be joking just to tease poor Peto. If you are at all serious you need to have a watch of one of Jason Polakow's videos, even the one he put out in 1991 will make any real wavekiter admit they have a long, long way to go to catch up. Kiters do make better use of small waves, but when it is big.... forget about it. That Mark Shinn video where he is riding at Cape Verde, how funny!!!!.... have you seen what a sailboarder does to that place????

Dear Jefferson,

Kiting is a young sport.
Windsurfing is now long established.
Kitesurfing is now playing catch-up in the wave department.
Give it a year or so and wavekiting in big waves will look like 'surfing on steroids' !

slave.

You are obviously biased towards windsurfing.
You should watch the vids of The King of the Air .
Robbie and the other kiters tearing it to pieces!

Dont worry ,this stage of denial will pass !

I spent years wavesailing, and I still claim ,if asked,"do you still windsurf" that I do.
The reality,though,is that I can't remember the last time I windsurfed !
I still claim that if the surf is mast high with 20 knots of wind, that I would prefer to be on my poleboard. The reality? I cant remember the last time this happened !
I took up kiting to get out on the light wind days that we seem to constantly get.But now I love kiting in strong wind.

I used to believe that kiters could not ride waves properly. That is all changing rapidly. Guys are riding surfboards, tearing up hard core spots, smacking the lip bigger and better than any windsurfer or surfer.
I even saw a kiter get tubed at my local spot recently.

My reaction ? The Holy Grail !! The last barrier from surfing !

So,while kiters will not be watching any Polakow videos,I suggest you catch up on what is happening in the kiting World.

Phuck this is funny...(and not very original).

Ben and User you guys are classics.
"Yeah dude, kiters can ride waves better than surfers...!!" HAHAHAHA!!
Seriously how phucking deranged are you guys??
Oh and user, its good to hear that kiters can ride waves better than goatboaters, gee what an amazing achievment that is for you. That's like me bragging about being able to ride my bike faster than a little old lady in a wheelchair. (and I nearly can!!).

Look I couldn't give a rats who kites, who sails, etc, etc. I sail, and as long as I can continue to do that then I'm happy.

Ben...dying sport?? Sorry to break the news to you, but kiter participation numbers are still way below sailors numbers( Oz wide and world wide), and you guys are in the peak of the "novelty period", and our sport is supposed to be "dying".
Just like sailor numbers will never overtake surfers, you guys need to accept your permanent place at 3rd in the queue (out of those 3 mentioned sports of course. Who knows where goatboating ranks at the moment??).

As for the original post, I've sailed around Newcastle a lot, and know a lot of the crew and have seen all the others sail too. They all (particularly peto I might add) sh!t over any kiter up there. Now hey, I'm happy to sit back and accept that the kiters are out there giving it a go and having fun. good on them. But if any of them start this "we're better at waves" sh!t, then I'm happy to be brutally honest and give them a shot of reality. No guys, you are not very good at all at riding waves. You don't have a clue how to bottom turn properly, you run away from any decent lip. Now, I mean it when I say good luck to you, but don't start claiming anything that is just plain sh!t.
And as soon as the waves pick up a few feet more, the sailors rip like there's no tomorrow, and the tea baggers balls shrivel up inside their overinflated egos. I'm sure some kite dude overseas rips, but stop trying to hide your own inferiority behind stories about them.

Now I know, as usual, there no point preaching to the braindead "world champions" out there, but at the same time its fun just to participate in these discussions. Don't take it personally, as I don't even know any of you personally, but just take in the views of others that may explain why some of you are great tossers, and sh!t kiters (and surfers, and sailors). The good kiters are out there with their mouths shut ripping it up, and its a pleasure to share the beach with them.

I'm sure that kiting in the waves will continue to improve...just not for the sad dicks in this discussion. HAHAHA!!

Thats my 2 cents for today. Keep the change!

Nutbag, when I said that kiters shti over surfers,I was not referring to just wave riding. I was refering to the overall veiw. Jumping mostly.

Basically we just tear it up and then jump over surfers or goatboats or whatever, and blow their minds with 40 foot of air !!

You cant argue with that !

So,just keep padling and waiting your turn for a wave .
While you are waiting you can watch the kiters rippin it up !

Dear User,

Stop living the lie.
Sell that pole gear while it's still worth $omething.
Use the cash to buy more kite stuff, of course.

Handy Tip by slave.

"Polakow"
Are you serious?
Is this a Cow that rides a poleboard?
How does it hang on?
How does it get its feet in the straps?
Actually, it must something other than a windsurfer because I've never seen a cow with grey hair and I've never seen a cow with a beer belly.
I quite like cows. They make milk. They're nice. I'm sure whatever a polacow is, it's nice. Maybe it's a special milkshake made with lots of icecream and really cold milk. Yummy.

Hey Nutbag,

Great to see you can talk alot. I notice most wind surfers can talk alot.

And I do mean TALK ALOT.

I put it down to the fact that they never actually get out because the conditions are never windy or big enough, so they are left without anything better to do than talk themselves up.

You stick to the sport mate. I prefer to be on the water every day, not waiting for the 2 days a year when it's 35kn and 25ft.

My bet it most of you Big Talking Polers have never actually been out in those conditions anyway.

Yadda Yadda Yadda.
