A variety of interesting answers and comment. Did'nt so much want to get into the flat v c thing, but get some ideas on this clear difference. Also note there's not a lot of comment on the high depower c kites. Having poleboarded for 15 yrs prior to kiting, that sport went thruogh similar phases. Initially everyone was on the same gear, hacks and pros alike, then the sport went super high performance, at he expense of the average user. Sails had cambers, every type of board and fin shape possible. There was no focus on the average punter. In recent years the gear evolved to where now the pros and punters are now both using the same gear, offering high perfomance and ease of use. Hopefully kiting will go this way quickly and therefore continue to benefit all users. Who knows what 2007 gear brings. The other observation is the amount of gear. It seems many people (especially in OS forums) have 3-4 kites (or entire quivers) and 2-3 boards. ****, too many decisions. Ideally for the majority of use 1-2 kites and 1-2 boards max. No more. Othrwise you spend all day picking the wind, de-rigging and dicking around. Not the way to go. So development should KISS and the sport will ultimately continue to grow. Cheers.

The better rider crashes their kite a fair bit more often, as they try to do tricks.
So you need a more reliable relaunch, from any weird position, in any wind.
You also require a certain amount of pull during a kite loop trick and when riding unhooked.

Kites with bridals have great relaunch.. in Adverts...
With bridals in real wind, your flucked, mate no where near enough control in the water.

5lines lets you manipulate the kite while its in the water.
Bridals pullies tangles inversions you have NO control.

Camsand buy a Wipika Matrix (or a Vegas) they have soft bar pressure (preserve your strength for a trick) plenty safety and enough windrange too.

Im not convinced Pornstar, we have been using switchblades in some big wave days at our local and the quick and reliable relaunch is the only reason all our kites are still intact. I have seen and experienced many problems with 5th line relaunching (as well as some bow style relaunching) and i would say it has more to do with the riders not understanding how to relaunch than the design of the kite itself. Both with work with proper technique.
"Unhooked moves and kiteloops you need a certain amount of pull"...again i think the s-blades especially has the ideal amount of pull for these types of moves, thats why i got rid of my 6 other kites and now how 2 s-blades.
