YEAH just spoke to the organisers on the beach.
Free expression riding today with wind reported as 'rising' as at 0400 and riders heading out.
Entries still open at the beach as they are expecting to pospone day one events till tomorrow and day 2 thru to Mon.
Should be a good look I reckon so I'm off for a preview right now

Briefly stopped in at Brighton this pm, whilst I was there noticed several people with kites in water struggling to relaunch surrounded by swimmer's and surfer's. Then out of nowhere a kite dropped onto the beach into the spectator's area. It landed either on the leg or the towel of a spectator/ beach goer luckily no injury sustained. It struck me that it would have been much better to have the event 100 metres south of where it was, considering lack of swell or alternatively clear the beach of people in the water and on the beach 100 metres downwind of the kiters. It just looked as if an accident was waiting to happen!!

AKL is run by Mike Walker of Byron Bay. He runs a circuit around Oz each year.

I include all info of any events sent to me in my email newsletter incl the AKL @ Scarbs - if you would like to get on the list just email me.

I actually thought he put a posting up on this forum too?

Cheers,

the event isn't going to be on today. Monday. There were amazing trophies awarded.

Rez,

why not on Monday(today) - no wind yesterday?

What were the "amazing" trophies awarded for? Didn't look like much went down on Saturday?

Who won trophies? The only one doing anything on Saturday in the expression session seemed to be Damo.

This was the final comp in a series of 7 that have been held all around the country .
A lot of the series leaders were leaving today , so they decided to end it all,and get a result from the expression session,as the forecast was the same as for no wind Sunday .
The trophies were for the series winners .
Great to see that the local boys were recognised as being the stand outs in the expression session with Jake Gorden getting 1st and Damo getting 3rd . Balls from Melbourne got 2nd .
This was a good effort as a lot of the top riders from over east were out there with them .
