Dead right Saffer. Done correctly it needn't drag around on sand like that & risk damage. ie. position yourself at the correct angle to the kite. If wind's too light it can be difficult to lift tip far enough over. Sheet right out & just pull on the rear line itself. Within normal windrange, a piece of cake. In strong wind there is a temptation to weight the upwind wingtip with a bit of sand to stop it catching the wind before you are ready, but it can be difficult to release it again properly. If it's pretty windy & I'm concerned it may move early I position the kite ready & weight the upwind wingtip. Then I go to the bar, connect safety, hook in & walk back to kite, release the sand & walk backwards upwind again with the upwind front line in 1 hand feeding it out as I go so it can't get away on me, until I'm in position.
