Have a look at the "kitespots" on www.nswkba.com.au a lot of new central coast locations have gone up there recently.
Last weekend I kiting at Picnic Point, near The Entrance (about 30mins south of Newcastle. It was a strong westerly, the location has large launch and is knee deep (mud) for about 200m into the lake. Nice flat water.

Lake Weyba near Noosa - perfect for beginners; nice and shallow but you'll need to wait for the SE winds.

Lake Weyba is an excellent learning place but SE must be fairly strong before going otherwise it can be frustrating. It's really shallow all across and is a place where a lot of people learn.

Glahonthebay,
How do you get to Towra Point? there seems to be a service road just passed the sharks club, but it is private access.
I notice alot of boats hang around the beach there on weekends... but i dont have a boat.
Always wanted to kite there in a norwester. I would just never be able to tack back over to dolls.
