this is a big big thankyou to all who have helped me while learning at shearwater
with great advice and tips. certainly way way friendlier than
the surf scene. genuinely pissed off to have to be going back to uk for a year but there you go. hope to see you all out there when i get back in a year or so.

Hey Shane mate long time no talk, That red spot....'the red barge' i've had a few mad sessions but havn't kited there for weeks, we havn't had any decent Southerlies or SW winds & its too protected from a SE to kite unless you launch from loders.
Anyway a handfull of us went to the pin in Pauly's boat a few weekends ago & it was fkn goin off. 20-25kn S, SSE, perfect tide, glassy in the channel & offshore, or cross-off in the surf & uncrowded (I think i only saw maybe 5 other people there the whole day ) it was overcast, but probably the funnest conditions ive ever kited in.

sounds sick. that would be a mad spot with wind for sure! weve finally gotten over the wind drought, gettin out a few times a week now at least. just went out for a desperate "5 minutes till dark kite", and it sucked, but should have a breeze on saturday to get a fix. see ya at mambo if ya head down

Hi Shane

Fitzy here (picked you up from Surfers) Glad you enjoyed your stay in QLD and good to hear you are getting in a few sessions. I'm just back from 7 weeks in Europe and England to find its still warmer up here in our winter than it is in the English Summer. Guess you freeze the proverbials off down there in Melvagas.

WHen are you up here again?

Yep Shane

I surfed Roadknight Beach (or is it Rodenite beach, can't remember the spelling) last year with a mate who has a place down there. Felt weird in a 5mil steamer, hood, gloves and boots. Every time I put my hand in the water to paddle the board it hurt like F**k. What a way to surf. Guess the saving grace is that the surf is consistently bigger down that way near Bells.

We are hoping to head up to the pin on Sunday. Forcast 25 to 30 so bring it on.

Let us know when you arrive next summer.

I will be heading up in the morning, leaving Sorrento about 10am.

Will drive up on one of my Jet Skis as that's quicker. Brett and Dario will also be coming up on their Ski.

Looks like 9M weather will also bring the Rapture12

Camera is packed !!!!

Holy crap Fitzy hope you got home ok, It stopped blowing 30knots just as you left, it was solid 20kn still gustin to 30kn but much more ridable. The trip home for us was sweet, the bay was quite flat by the time we left
Was good to get out there and get wet anyway.
Oh yeah BTW the view up there was fkn fantastic, im still high from it, i just wish i had that jump on film to show anyone that says 'you cant jump high with short lines' rofl

Yep Benny I am surprised you didn't have a nose bleed from the altitude. S**t you were up there a long time, I counted to six before you hit the water again.

Bretto and I had a dream run home down the outside of South Straddie Island. The sand dunes protected the water from the howler and the wave faces were sensational. Very spectacular watching the wind blow the spray back off the waves about 5 meters.

uuugh so hard to read that, i was going to try to grab a ride up but could not make it. Did it go off? Had a nice session at Currumbin friday afternoon, first time i have put the kite up there, it was fun east of the groyne but it felt a little clicky inside. Still people were pretty friendly
Hay psylor how are the pads going.
Fitzy my phone is busted so i have lost all my numbers, have you flown your new best yet. I bought a 20 and flew a couple of times it was pretty fun (got it cheap as)
Hay paul the pump is going great it is the best 60 i have spent.
Oh well! hellow to all from baby land, will see ya when i see ya.

Yeah richo its was absolutly howling, gusts were crazy. I think everyone was really overpowered, we were lucky the water was flat & protected in the keyhole so you could hold your edge hard through the gusts or just send it and booooost! The LF pads are really good, very happy with em, you really feel the difference when you land hard and fast.

yea they are cool do not think they will help me much if i hit the groyne at currumbin yikkks- it sure helps you develope your turns. Fun goin past the front of it 2. Man i wish i could see the pin working, sounds wild. Do you ride in the surf much up there, it is pretty isolated!. Am going to have a go in the surf now but think i will hit 25th av at palm beach, plenty of room waves are a bot smaller and apparently it has a nice wide gutter for a bit of smooth action as well.

If you do get into trouble there you are minimum 15-20 minutes to land then however long to a hospital from there. So its good to be prepared for this when you go.
