hi all
was wondering if a 15m slingshot 2006 fuel would suite me in winds around the 10kts mark with a 5'10 surfboard? weight 55kg.
cheers

Luck bastard you could probably go an 11 with a surfboard. A 13m would be perfect I'd imagine as already stated

just wondering if there is any real performance differences between the 13m fuel and its bigger sizes ie 15 and 17? turning speed?

More comprehensively, pretty much everyone I've talked to about it agree that anything larger than a 13 detracts from the waveriding experience because it turns just a bit to slow. My quiver has a 13 and a 16 at the moment, and if I have to use the 16 I'll often go somewhere without waves.

At your weight a 17m kite would be monstrous, no matter what and where you're riding. It might do you in 10 knots, but 11 might see you struggling to hold it down.

so greenpat u mean the 11 would not provide enough power? because atm i am riding a phantom 9m and in 10kts can't even get pulled out of the water but i can use it in to 25kts
thanks

No, I mean that 11 knots might be too much for a 17m for you, even if you can hold it in 10 knots. I'm just trying to illustrate that the kite is probably too big, you'd probably be perfectly sorted with a 13, maybe even with the 11 on a surfboard in those winds. I can't tell you for sure because I'm twice your weight and still ride a twintip. Mine is really a whole world away to yours. You're exactly one half of my weight, and the 2003 17m fuel had me nicely powered in 14 knots. That's a moer of a kite.

hey mick,
I'm 55kg and flew 06 fuels. I had an 11m as my largest kite & used a surfboard as a lightwind board. I found I still needed more power even in flat water. I went to 13m in the 07 fuels this year which I found better. I also had a go on larger 06's but found they had to much pull & turned to slow to be any good in light winds.
hope that helps

i was concerned about the slow turning speed of the 15 upwards fuels and might now go towards the 13m. would anyone know the difference between riding a 138cm twintip compared to a 5'10 surfboard around the 10knt mark? increased wind range?
