anyone used or know people who have compared the slingshot 2005 137 sx to the 2005 136 misfit, if so, which do you like and why, which is better for open ocean riding with chop and rough days??, like all beaches in sydney,
need advice to make a decision

thanks

Had the chance to demo both boards before deciding upon the 137 SX. SX seemed to track better in choppier conditions and the Misfit seemed to have a more loose skatey feel. Both rode fantastic but did prefer the SX although the 137 has the worst graphics!!!! Misfits do look better, but really I couldn't give a stuff as long as it does its job!!

i think u will be stoked either way. i ride the 130sx and love it . the 136 misfit is good. havent tried the 137 but imagine it would be similar to the 130 just bigger.

ryland, I'm 85 kg, riding with 17.5 machine and 13m 2005 fuel and f one m5 12m for big wind days, what size sx do you think. i heard that the effective edge is much shorter on the new sx range therefore a 130 rider last year will ride the 137 this year what do ya think??.

I see you are also addicted to slingshots, bet your wondering about the machine??? , got one of the new ones arrived last week, I think the first batch are sold out already , haven't had it out yet but I only hear mental reports from the usa ect, are you getting one>??

cheers mc

i weigh bout 88kg. biggest kite being a 13m fuel. keen on getting a machine too. flew the demo one the other day and its pretty cool. i find the 130 perfect as an alrounder. waves and freestyle. it gets going pretty early and can hold in any wind. the 128 misfit is sick too. but i found the 130 a better size for me. hope this helps.

OK So the New MACHINE.. Awsome is the best word I can find.. Got mine last night and actually got to ride it today... It's the first time ever that new gear hasn't jinxed me (and the rest of the crew) ever.. Firstly let me say that I'm not a spono'd rider but do love my slingshots, I am also un-ashamedly a mate of Choicey's..

All that said.. after going out today in 10-18kn and having an absolute ball!!! Still can't get the smile off my face!!! The Kite Rocks!!

I'm 95kgs and was on a 136 Misfit (also new) and was crankin up wind even in the lulls. As a vetran of big kites I can't say how different this kite is to previous 21 and 18m kites I've had. It looks very different to start with, quite high aspect compared to the fuels for example but Very wide wing tips. It is much quicker on the up stroke than any big kite I've flown and will take some sessions yet to get used too. But at the end of the day, a must have for light conditions.. The trimable 5th line is new to me (havn't got 5th line on any my other kites) but definately has a marked effect on the kites pre-formance..

Anyways.. hope to get out again morro reckon this kite would rock on a surfboard even in 8 kn... If anyone else has flown one and has the final trim down pat please let me know..

It's a 17.5.. the only one avail at this stage I believe.. Think the 21.5 are out in a month or two and the 25.5 later... but I have been told that they won't be updated till at least sept 2006.. So maybe we will finally start getting kites that hold thier value. I don't think I would bother with a bigger one after trying this one today.. unless you live in area where you can get say 7-10kn of CONSISTENT wind.. we don't get that here.. once the wind is that light it usually is more like 2-10kn

so whats your thoughts on the sx 137 v the misfit 136, still can't work out which one although loads of people are saying the sx is more all round and the misfit has less flex and doesn't track like the sx in chop, something which is very important for me in the east, loads of swell and chop over here. your thoughts would be appreciated. I'm only a day to day rider, intermediate at the moment no just starting to jump more than a couple of foot ect.
Glad you like the machine can't wait for some wind to even try mine.
cheers

Hey mc..

I haven't tried the SX so wouldn't have a clue to be honest.. I have tried a flx142 and found it was a little too flexy for my liking. I don't really know the technical guff on all these boards but can say I like the misfit, but only tried it on flat water so far.

No bloody wind today!!
