Definitely count me in.....was going to go last year but never got around to it! We went snowboarding/skiing last year at Perisher and Theredbo...stayed in Jindabyne and the guy who ran our accommodation new of places to snowkite....damn annoyed I just cant remember them now.
i did last season at thredbo and rode a fair bit just off the back of basin tbar. theres a nice valley ther which is pretty flat and gets decent wind the best spot is if u trek out about 2k to Kosiosko Lookout up there it gets clean wind. dont ride in the resort boundaries theyre pretty anal bout it
heaps of spots late in the season on the road to charlottes pass even better on the other side but its best you go with someone who's been there before.the more you go the more spots you find up there. in the middle of the season its mostly sw winds so the back of thredbo is easist to get to. behind the quad chair at perisher is also possible in sw wind but there is a few small trees there to collect your kite.
hey uminaboy - you had a 9m fuel up there last season? i met you you and your mate at thredbo one arvo.
Yeah 'If we get snow' fingers crossed! Anyone in Vic know of spots to give it a go? I think out the back of Hotham may be a goer. Would love to give it a go... mite take my 3m foil....
Hey macca, I'll come landboarding, have got a 4m ozone samurai kite and flexi something board. Got it all last year for the purpose of using during winter, but didn't use it much as no-one around here is keen to play.....where do you go?
hey andrew it's not being soft.....it's called sharing the love.
In winter why not try different things with your kites, no harm in going on the water, on land or on the snow when the conditions are good for whichever one!
Kite Republic and Feed the Rat will be up on the mountain all winter, running lessons, hire and tours out the back of Hotham. On Hotham, we teach at the Orchard and Dinner Plain, if you have your own equipment and can ride there are loads of places off the summit.
thanks i think well set a few dates to have ago and post them for how wants to come along and macca i think u better stick to your drinking/land boarding combined to make it fun cheers
im keen for snow, name the dates and i will be their. anyway should be going landboarding this weekend,if the wind is to light for the water, towradgi if ne 10-15 park, corrimal beach if any east in it 7kt low tide and if south 10- 30 kt puckies oval sunday maybe
A skyline! WOW! Thats original! And such a fantastic vehicle for getting your kiting gear to the beach or driving up icey mountain roads... how practicle! hahahahhaha
You rock Man! Skylines are Grouse - wack a MASSIVE turbo and blowoff valve in it and it will be mad. Who cares if you can't fit your kiting gear in it, you'll be getting too many chicky babes, you wont have any time to kite anyway[}:)] the boys all meet out here at penrif on the weekend if your man enough to meet up and race fire me an email.
we kited at Falls Creek vic last season, best thing i did that whinter, going back in september or sooner or later depending on the snow. i used foils at the start, then moved on to my 5 line water kites. hope to see more kiters there next time
i think they where 3m ,5m and 8m foils. my other frend used a 14m vagas and the only other kite i had was a 17.5 slingshot fully depowerd ,with the 5th line pulled in about half a foot lol.. just a little big for the day. but 12 - 14m would have been premmo. this year going with a 7m ,9m and 13m o7 fuel's cant whait.
whats the plan here? Sounds like you want to coerse crew into secluded deserted places! Reading some of the other fourms I think I will be going North in winter Far North
Keep swinging and rock on to what ever rings your bell.
