hi i just pull of my first surface pass today and i was just wondering if there is write or wrong way to do it
i passed the bar behind my back i think i grab the wrong side of the bar and the kite down loops i can still ride away though so if you can give me some pointers and stuff that would be good

thank you, and good winds

If its downlooping just send the kite really hard up before you go for the pass so that once you done it it cancels out the down turn and the kite stays still. Simple. Good luck with that.

There is really no right or wrong way to do it. But things to make it easier, is to make sure your hands are in the middle of the bar, as you rotate you should turn your arm under. and when you grab make sure you grab under as well and try to get the middle of bar again. this way you end up with the right side of the bar and the kite shouldn't loop.. Generally easier with kite lower as it won't lift your arms as this ca make it hard to keep bar at hip height. make sure you have enough speed it is easier to do it fully planning then just or sub planning. once you got it down get it both ways and in both directions to add variety and keep you all rounded..
Have fun and try try try :-)

Why would you say that kite crazy??
If there is one thing I've learnt through all my sports. It's that if you get taught or learn the right technique then it will make it easier to learn faster and progress to take your riding further..

cus if hes done one and grabbed the bar its just a case of practice so hes more comfortable with the movement and then he can concentrate on what his hands are doing.

Nothing wrong with having the kite loop if thats what you want to happen. But you should plane through it anyway. You shouldn't need the kite to loop to pull you back onto the plane??
I've seen guys try to pass the handle without turnng the bar under, is far far more dificult, and if like I said you learn the right technique it will make progressing easier in the long run..
Hey good luck and keep practising mitch, and if you ever have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. I've been teaching and coaching kiting now for 7 years from beginners to the some of the top riders in aus..
get out have fun and enjoy it

Erm also on a serious note if you twist the bar it will make it easier to grab which comes in handy for air passes.

yea u dont need the loop its just nice to get speed going but i can do without looping aswell.
and i agree with monkey on the pass thing, wen i was on the hanging bar after nailing the pull ups properly i tried different things to see how it changes the timing n ease etc. if you dont twist the bar its a basterd to grab n sometimes u grab the wrong side aswell. twisting also gets it closer to your back

i got out to day and i figured out what i was doing wrong i was twisting the bar underbut only half way so it always comes out up side down but i i have got is down pat now all i have to do is air passes
