Thanks to seabreeze. I and others live with less angst and have a better reality thanks to the seabreeze wind prediction graphs .if I I was to rely on the BOM for figuring whether there was going to be wind I would be living in endless hope for something that never arrived .Whatever the seabreeze model is it is excellent .if its gonna be a dud day that is what it will be and there little risk of missing the one that came unexpectadly from no where.

Yes I also have used it as an excellent wind hunting tool.

Also had a cause to complain to Laurie about the lack of green arrows in my area, and guess what the wind started picking up, and the season got better?

Maybe he's causing the weather?

Spot on Mr Float!
I've always thought that it was just me, but I'm glad to see others are also frustrated with BOM's cluelessness.
I'm sure the guys down at the BOM offices smoke crack during their teabreaks. Either that or they should get something more sophisticated than a crystal ball to predict the wind with.

I did a very informal monitoring of Seabreeze / BOM during the end of season period two years ago.
My impressions were:
- the most accurate forecasts were where SB & BOM matched.
- when predictions varied Seabreeze tended to be closer to reality but both were less likely to be absolutely correct.
- as forecast variations became wider Seabreeze became more likely to be the more accurate forecast.

NB: nothing scientific, just a few brief notes in the diary with scores 1 to 10.

As I understand it BOM are a bit more concerned with liability issues arising over their forecasts, so generally overestimate wind speeds.

i think laurie is a humanitarian first, and a weather forecaster second, how many times have you looked at the long range forecast, looking at a very dud week, and then see green arrows forecast for the end of the week, usually its a balls up and there's no wind, but is it really a balls up, does laurie not just know how bad things are but how bad they are likely to become thanks to la nina, and he's giving us all hope, something to hold onto, to look forward to, by chucking a couple of green arrows at a forecasted weeks end...? if it is... thanks laurie, you give me hope....!

And when it doesn't come in, I almost hang myself. And then I see a green arrow 6-7 days away. And hold out until then.
