Prepare, I certainly admit UNI life is great for working, kiting, and just everything really, but after you consider after 4 years of being at uni and working the other times, the money lost would at least be $20 000 per year. Over four years this is $80 000, and unless you need or want the major or honours to be employed in the field of your choice, it’s a lot of money going down the drain. It is a means to an end however
Very true. But if you think about it, or even work it out. If you earn say $30 000 each year for 5 years that’s $150 000 not considering tax etc. Whereas, if you earn an average of $45 000 per year for 5 years not considering tax, it’s $225 000.
Taking this into account, you are missing out on
at least $75 000 over a 5 year period to just avoid paying one’s HECS (which can average from $15 000 up to $25 000 or more).
Financially, this could enable you to have an ‘extra’ $75 000 to put as a deposit towards a house, buy a car, or whatever you wish to do with it.
Just my 2 cents worth

Note :- Let alone considering ‘the rest of your life earning under $35 000’. Over a 25 year period when you could have been earning $1.125 million at $45 000not considering tax, whereas at the $30 000 that is only $750 000. That’s $375 000 down the gurgler to avoid a $15 000 to $25 000 HECS fee. lol. A considerable amount when you think of it that way!
