Don't get me wrong, I'm addicted to kiting as much as the next person here, but Vietnam is such an amazing diverse country, there is so much to see and do, I'd recommend go explore to its fullest and leave your kite at home. Go nuts kiting here, aussie beaches are as good as anywhere. Just spent a few months trecking all over Vietnam and despite one or two days where conditions where ok I didnt even think about it. To be honest there was one morning of driving along about 10km worth of perfect beach breaks with no-one to be seen and no surf board to borrow anwhere which was a test of character but that was about it. Wouldn't want to be lugging gear around that might prevent me from exploring a beautiful country. But just my 2 cents anyway

That's bollocks about not taking your kite!!! take One - the smallest you've got, and get into it!!!! Mui Ne is the best spot to base from. Great downwinder to the Novatel about 5-10kms south, get a taxi back up.

Wind comes up by 9am if its going to be windy - and is seriously blown out after 3pm - so get your kiting in earlier morning when its more consistent. Expect winds to be 20knots plus (i had 35knts a few days - too much)

Waves get a bit bigger as you go south - but the beaches disappear at high tide, so landing is a bit tricky. Waves are more wind swell.

Pack a light shorty - water is very warm - the wind howls though so can get a bit chilly.

There's plenty of hire gear at mui ne - but its not that cheap.

Watch out for Russian kiters - they are crazy.
