haha. i was thinking the same thing tvillugus. whats the problem with onshore? why is the person giving lessons an idiot cause it's onshore? explain how a controlled lesson is dangerous or kiting in onshore is dangerous. maybe if it was to strong out? but that'd be for any learner wouldn't it? anyway, I don't see a problem with it.
In WA direct onshore winds are usually associated with gusty frontal winds so learners are generally told not to go out in direct onshores as much as not going out in offshores. The location mentioned, Melville, has virtually no beach and there is a roadway and kite eating trees very close.

Self landing and launching is the same no matter what wind you are in. Make sure you have the room and be careful what you are doing. the difference for onshores is if you screw up you may hurt yourself.
