Was out learning with my new 7m kite yesterday at pelican point and was starting to feel comfortable with it. Unfortunately dropped the kite infront of another rider as they were passing and hit their lines. Just wanted to post an apology and to thank the dude for being so cool about it... I'm happy that he was up and running within a few minutes and that i was the one that spent an hour on the sand untangling my lines. Got it all up and running again and had an absolute ball body dragging for the afternoon. All in all probably a valuable lesson in how not to panic when someone is heading towards you.
thanks again to the guy with the gracious attitue.

Similiar thing happened to me. Was riding downwind of a learner when all of a sudden I get hit by his kite. My right arm got tangled in the lines running from LE to the bridles, the kite powered up and relaunched and snapped off my arm. Luckily it wasn't wrapped all the way around my arm but just this "little" thing still created a swelling of half my lower arm and a few cuts. Looked real nasty and felt even worse. Got a tetnis shot, x-ray cause I can't straighten my arm all the way out but nothing serious. No kiting or work for a week and then I'll get a big nice bruise for a bit Another injury to add to the collection! At least this time I wasn't the cause of it!

snapped off my arm/snapped my arm off are two different things. Didn't know how to explain it better. Point is it got full tension on it and slided/spun/scratched/ran across/over/along my arm.. Better?

Good on you TTone for posting an apology. A good attitude makes up for many indiscretions. These things are bound to happen when you're starting out, happens to the best of us.

A word of advice to any newbies reading this: if you can, be aware of where your kite is in relation to others, ie, if someone's approaching and upwind then keep your kite low and vice versa if they are downwind keep your kite higher.

Good to hear you are enjoying your learning curve Tony BUT Pelican Pt. is NOT a place for learners.
Check the location guide at :
http://waksa.org.au.86.aspwebhosting.com.au//locations_view.aspx?locationid=6
By learning there you are placing yourself & your gear, other kiters, the public and future beach access for all kiters at considerable risk.
Your instructor (I'm sure no-one takes up kiting without lessons anymore ) should have advised you of this If he/she didnt ring them & ask why not.

Boney doesn't read the forum so I suggest apologizing in person next time you see him.
