No one seems to use the Toaster Croissants these days, all the lusciousness of a croissant with absolutely no affiliation with the French. Its perfect!

They are hard to find although, May have to go on a safari to find them, IGA in someplaces stocks em...

being a newbie, i want to know what size you're using. i started on pancakes and a banana, but i have seen guys with all sizes, especially with toast, the euros are using the tiny pretoasted jobs, i have seen bigger guys on 'wonderwhite' thick.

is fruit toast just market hype? all the feedback says they are just sweet, but that you can burn it really easy without lessons.

i'd like to find an instructor who is good with their crumpet, i come from a cereal background but think the right crumpet would suit my style.

only other question is pikelettes, can you use them without jam and cream?

thanks

Have you heard? They're going to stop making crumpets entirely soon, so you'll have to go toast. They reckon it's an outmoded design, and there really isn't a profitable market for it anymore. So the closest you'll be able to come to that good old traditional crumpet feeling is the hybread.

Before even buying toast or crumpets make you sure you get lessons from a qualified instructor in how to use toast and crumpets properly. Without the correct guidance you can get seriously injured. Nothing worse then seeing somebody using toast and crumpets dangeroulsy in a crowded kitchen.

Learnt on crumpets and moved to toast, but have you tried a crumpet in the last 2-3 years???? They make square crumpets now which are almost the same shape as toast but still have that crumpet taste. Toast eaters just dont know how satisfying and sweet a new crumpet can be.

Many people should stop eating their toast on the toilet as it looks very unhygenic, But with the explosion of soy and linseed, traditional wholemeal, fruit toast, thick toast, oatmeal and honey, hi-fibre etc. toast is here to stay

Yeah you got it... Get LESSONS before you go crazy with some new crumpets or toast.

Remember, demo some other toast or crumpets to see what you like.

Anyone know how to make crumpets?

Crumpet Toast Review

Conditions: around 18 degrees with a 15 Knot Easterly, breakfast bench, stool, 25cm diameter plate, 4 medium brightness lights and no heater or air con on.

My Eating level: Intimidate

Gear: 20cm Toaster, 25cm Diameter Plate, 2 slices of Crumpet toast, vegemite and butter.

Slice One Butter, Slice Two Vegemite
I was not impressed, I found it tasted nothing like toast and nothing like crumpet and I won’t be buying it again. But if you do want to give it a demo I suggest you use vegemite but it all depends on what you like, the conditions you eat in and the experience level which your are at.

The main thing is that its Cr@p!! stick to toast or crumpets

I think an even bigger issue here is (probably worthy of a new post)

Vegemite or Promite or Marmite or and other mites ive missed out on..

Personely i think Vegemite is way too salty, Marmite is way too runny like molasses...

I really think you cant go past Promite not too salty, they add sugar to it so it has a much smoother taste than Vegemite, plus its texure is way easyer to spread than either Marmite or Vegemite...

OK flame suit is on!!! bring on the backlash!!!

BTW General its very important to mix a decent amount of butter with youre chosen mite.... i cant stress enough its very important that they are mixed together.... otherwise youre texure/taste ratio will be totaly out of wak..

I recently had a nasty situation with a really hot (and slightly burned) crumpet. It happened while buttering, and then applying a bit too much peanut butter without the required respect. She stuck to the Knife and then jumped right off the plate and landed face down on my foot. Nasty burn! The doc says I will be good to go in a couple of weeks, so I'm on cold breakfast till then. Ive been burned but I'm gonna get lessons for sure.
Anybody know anyone who can help me out here? Lessons seem so expensive especially when you have your own toaster!

Does anyone have trouble self launching a crumpet?

I'm used to using toast and have always had no trouble self lauching these from my toaster.
In fact under the right conditions they also self land with ease on a strategically placed plate ready for a quick buttering.
But recently I've been enjoying crumpets but am having trouble self lauching them. It might be the extra holes and the more floaty feel of them not to mention the different AR aspect.
I know some will tell me I should not self launch but sometimes I'm in the kitchen alone late at night and the only way is to self lauch when no one in the family is around.
I have at times resorted to the kichen knife in the toaster for an assisted launch but this has resulted in me having the safetly switch flicked..saving my life twice.
Although I'm a crumpet noob I would not reccomend this action. Always have a good safety!
PLEASE Does anyone have a video of a good self lauch of the crumpet as I'm getting desperate now winter approaching with its associated good crumpet weather . .

I don't know about this new 'fad' of toast and crumpet eating. I've been a Porridge eater for a long time now, and the skill level required to do it is a lot higher than plonking slices in a toaster. Sure, toasting bread and crumpets looks 'rad' and all the kids want to do it but the excitement will pass when people realise it isn't as extreme as they thought it was. If I use the microwave I can do some serious speed runs, though I'm more of an old school on the stove kind of guy.

I'm fighting for a local toaster ban because they just get in the way of me cooking my porridge. Other cereal eaters are also concerned for their safety. Toasters take up a lots of space, and there is a real danger of being caught in the cord.

Either that, or toasting anything will have to be done in designated areas, with local membership and insurance.
