hey guys, just wondering who out there uses their wakeboards for kitesurfing? Any downsides to the different bindings / boards?
Cheers

Have a mate thats done it - riden it a few times - its ok but you need lots of wind, its heavy and doesnt have the pop of a dedicated kiteboard... but it can and does work, changed the bindings for straps too.

no bull ****... not to heavy and boots good.... unions the kiting bindings are the same as ultas but ultras have an extra plastic wrap for better lock down and not much more weight.... some wake boards are heavy not all of them if your going to cheap out and get a kmart wake board then yes it will be to heavy. and there is a hell of a lot more pop in a wake board but you have to be super powered to unlock it . your best bet is to buy a bigger kite board or a lf one or a slingy wake board and put boots on it like unions or ultras. you cant ride a wake board for kiting and have straps you need the boots to hold it down. if your going to dingle buy a berry!

I learnt on a wakeboard, and i alway's wondered why i needed a kite a at least 2mt bigger then everyone else. then i tried a kiteboard. i say chalk and cheese. better up wind, smaller faster kite. wakeboards do work but not that practical.

If you want to ride "wakestyle" your gonna need a wakeboard. to heavy? to much rocker? its just what your used to, whats the problem with rigging a bigger kite? just means you will be more powered. Dont believe the weak, get a wakeboard.

i have a liquidforce element. Awesome board, basically a kiteboard version of a wakeboard. I learnt on a wakeboard, the comment about less pop is BS wakeboards own in regards to pop.

sounds good to me youngbull. why would you want a fast kite? big kites give more pop anyway.
