G'day Mike

Heres the details from the GPS Kite Speed surfing site

http://50knots.xs4all.nl/gps-kitesurfing/gps.asp?mnu=faq&smnu=gps&val=&uid=

It has all the info on GPS's and software (Freeware)

Would recommend getting an aquapac as although the GPS is waterproof it is only 1m depth for 1hr. The Speeds you will be traveling and the heights you come from will soon overcome this sealing.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the speeds you can achieve on you kite, although once you go down the dark path of speed sailing it can hook you in quite badly.

If you want any more info drop me a line.

all the best

regards

Alby

ps

A side benefit of GPS is you should be able to also check you boost heights.

I use the Garmin Geko 201.

I go splatt to much for the Foretrex.

I believe both can take Altitude readings although you have to set the data recording at the finest setting, it won't be as accurate as the unit designed for vertical measurement but it should give some usable data.

Sorry Dan,

You'll have to learn to land your tricks the old fashioned way by lots of practice and TOW, which I'm sure you'll feel realy sad about spending more time sailing

But it can possibly tell you with some reasonable accuracy how high you are boosting and your hang time, which up till now has always been subjective.

It's different strokes for different folks. Just offering some assistance.

Hope the weather gods shine for you all.

And some monky says that I am Inspector Gadget
Ha, isn't it nice to have the gadgets on the water?
You have to try boosting high with a helmet camera too.
Cheers

Anyone know any retailers of Garmin around Perth that might listen to my sad story? I got mine in Namibia and since landing back in Perth the screen has gone a bit cactus. Surely a warranty job, but I'd be loathe to have to send it back to Namibia for it, I doubt I'd ever see it again. So if there's a shop I could go and talk to, perhaps get onto the importer/distributor through them or even Garmin HQ, wherever that is, I miss it and want it to work properly again.

Any ideas would be appreciated, however I will follow up on my own anyway. Somehow. Sometime. Soon. Perhaps when the docket arrives with all my personal effects in the container in a couple of weeks it might be of some use, perhaps not.
