mine.

You can't get a reliable answer with a question like this, it all comes down to personal preference.

Ive recently bought a LF comp harness. They have a bigger back support area on them then other harnesses ive seen. This also helps the bar from riding up too; especially when its a bit loose (allowing the harness to rotate if riding toe side etc).
They have a quick clip attachment strap which also holds well and doesnt loosen like past harnesses ive used. Its also sexy and white

North Styler

FO are to big!! the small flight control just fits me every thing at it tightest but a medium styler still has and inch either side on adjustment the hook on the flight control also rolls to much.

I like the Flight Control too. After starting off with a Dakine Fusion, the difference in comfort and the rate of progression was stark. I think you just have to go and try lots, like finding a motorcycle helmet, the most expensive isn't neccessarily the best one for you.

I do agree the about the sizing of the Flight Control, but I think a lot of it is alleviated by wearing a rashie.

Best one for me so far has been the Mystic Warrior. If you can't demo it then it's always going to be a bit of hit and miss as it depends on your body stats and riding style. I would look for:

- spreader clips that will not work their way loose (ever)
- a secondary strap to pull the bar down. This stops the harness riding up. Also if you loosen the harness (e.g. to allow harness to swivel for more comfortable toeside riding) this acts as a backup in the event that the main clips become sccientally unclipped themselves
- good spreader bar pad - much more important for a waist harness than a seat
- Good quality clips, rings straps etc
- hook knife (just in case)

If you cant demo the harness on a kite, at least put your full weight on it via a rope. Put a lot of upwards pressure on it and make sure it remains comfortable and does not feel like it will ride up

If your going for a Mystic, make sure you go for the new Warrior2. Its got a different shape than 2008 and it super comfy.

Also check out the Pat Love Cast's... They are super Comfy and have a rock solid spreader bar position.

Try the FO Felix then, this harness is awesome for hooked in wave riding because it slides from side to side more than others and is still super comfortable plus it doesnt ride up and ive never had a rash.

No one has mentioned mystic firestarter or dakine pyro. I am also in the market (need to get out of that nappy). Tried the mystic and it feels comfortable, but it weighs a ton. Any comments on these?

Never heard of anyone noticing the weight of a harness before? Come to think of it, the Mystics are kinda heavy compared to a Pat Love or Dakine Pyro...

It's hard to tell untill you ride with them. Here's some harnesses I've had with the pros and cons; but any of these may suit your body shape.

-pro limit ..Didn't fit that well, heavy when wet and spreader bar rode up. No knife

-mystic warrior..clasp can come undone..colour peeled off and so did my hips; but good solid harness if it fits, or you use a wetty all the time. Had knife

-naish pro.. light flexible and comfortable but put strain on my lower back when riding. No knife

-pat love cast..Doesn't absorb water when wet; so light, comfortable and solid spreader bar. The best harness I've used. Has knife

I'm also going to start looking currently using Dakine Fusion seat.

Mainly want a waist for the surf are there any that are particular suited to kiting waves?

Cheers.

great post, there is hope for us in here yet!

so far my favorite waist harness has been the flying objects "felix pro model, and "flight control" super comfy even with no wetty. followed by the north styler, the only thing the styler has better is it is a bit stiffer so it gives a bit more support.
if your going to ride waves the felix harness is awesome as it allows tons of movement.

I noticed that the 09 Dakine Pyro no longer has a sliding spreader, so what was a great harness for waves/toeside is now no more.

I really cant figure this move out from Dakine.

Gald to hear about the Felix though, looks like I will be swithching to this when my 08 Pyro finally carks it.
