I work in Mona Vale about 200m from the beach on fridays. Every time there is forecast 15kts+ and I check the wind from work and even if its 18-20kts NE at the airport and all the way down the coast there is zero wind between mona vale and long reef...well maybe last time there was 10kts at long reef.

where can i go to kite this friday?

Palm Beach, Fishermans or Longy are the best bet. Unfortunetly the winds been a bit crap this year but with any luck friday should be good though that hinges on what the system that somes in some time Sat. does. I've seen a couple guys kite out of Mona Vale beach but there's usually too many surfers.

If you really want to know what the winds doing at Longy pay the $25 for the Collaroy wind site.

If none of that works for you I can do Mona Vale (work on Basset Street) to Dolls in 1 hour on a good day and 1.5 hours on a bad day. Unfortunetly it's getting darker earlier.

You don't drive a white hatch back with a Cab sticker on it do you?

Agree with crazy Canuk, pay the money and get the Collaroy wind site, it's accurate enough.

Also look on the NSWKBA website, they have a map of the northern beaches, what wind direction and other info on where you can kite for what level you are....well worth the time to print off and keep in your kite bag!

If it doesn't look like its coming in this Friday up north, just pull a sicky or go in early and leave early!!

I feel your pain... i get most fridays off and head over to the nth beaches. It has been pretty freakin weak! I end up riding a 19m Venom and 148x46 FLX most of the time. Even though they are gusty I have enjoyed a few of the southerlies recentlty.

Seriously... i am considering dropping a heap of coin on a 15m or 19m Flysurfer speed II. These things have you fully powered up at 10knots.

Anyway, fingers crossed for all of us for this friday.

where on the northern beaches actually gets a NE?

Thats a trick question right?

Somehow botany is in a wind funnel that makes it consistently 5-10kts stronger than the NBs. I don't know why. At least its windy somewhere near the water. Imagine if the windiest area was Penrith.

Hey I feel your pain. I've been kiting around the Northern beachs since 2001 and each year the summers get worse. You'll have not a breath at Narra but you can drive past the lake at the fitness center end and the wind is cranking there seems to be a big hole around Narra and even longy. **** all that **** and head to Palmy it sucks in through the heads there and when there nothing at Narra it can be 15/20 there. Good luck with it mate. I now live in W.A and don't have a wind problem at all it awesome.
take it easy.
