g'day all,

what size and style of board would you recommend a 95kg beginner should aim for? i am thinking that i should go for something that i can keep a hold of for a while until i reach the point that i know exactly what i want from a board.

i have a lot of snowboarding experience and like to carve around and hit some airs. i am not a very trick/technical orientated rider more a fast but cruisey sort of carvey style sort of rider!

does this make any sense to anyone and if so, can you recommend an appropraite stick?

any advice on this matter would be somewhat appreciated!

cheers,

haggisheid......

Hi

If you are a complete beginner it would be wise to buy a board that you dont have to be to worried about damaging it something you will do! So a first board should be a used not to expencive board. Then after getting better buy a board so you can progress even more (After kitesurfing for a while you also get a better idea of what type of board that would suit you)

If you are located in Perth I'm selling my board in the end of may
145 TT board.
It has been a very good board for me, gets going easily in lite winds i'm 80 kg (Then I'm talking about geting going in about 13 kn with a 12m kite), and can still keep the edge in the gusts (For me it starts to be hard to keep the edge in about 23 kn).

If your intressed e-mail me! and we can discuss a price.

Regards
Kris

Hey Haggs,

A good novice to intermediate board for a 95 kg guy is the Airush Switch 142 or even better the Switch 150. Super strong, top performer in waves or flat water and goes upwind well.

Check out a demo at Airborne.

The switch is a nice board, I think the 132 RRD Martin Model is a super nice board too. It has plenty of pop for the technical tricks that your not so interested in, but as a carving board it feels so nice. So easy to just cruise around on and have fun. Some will probably say that it´s too small to learn on (students of mine have this board and love it), it would be harder but it doesn´t take too long to get to the level where it feels nice. In saying this I prefer shorter boards (mine´s 118), and as Kitehard said it´s up to you to decide what suits your style by demoing the gear.
On another note, I´m more of the opinion that your board won´t take too much of a beating when your learning, unlike your kite that you´ll end up crashing into the beach, trees etc. Later on down the track is when your board starts taking the punishment.
