am not much of a seasoned kiter it's an alternative sport to me to windsurfing when the tide's low and etc..but don't get me wrong it's an exhilirating sport..anything that skims on water i like..my question regarding above is between a flat bow and a c-kite..if conditions were just right which has a higher pull for a jump??that's the only thing i can do since i don't have anyone else better to follow and ask in my homeplace. i have a 12mtr. ckite and a 14flat bow. friends who windsurf and are interested ask me which one is? and i really can't give them a straight answer for the mere fact i can jump high on a ckite cuz i use for higher winds above 15kts. and for 10-12 i use the flat bow with a larger board to cruise back and forth..i haven't tried using it in 16-18kts. maybe it goes higher?

it depends bro i personally find that c kites can jump higher but bow kites give you a loftier longer jump.. but yeh your 14 will make u jump higher if you take it out in about 15-20knots

hey buddy i think so too as to any kite..but feels like the c-kite has power all the time unlike the bows they have the depower system that you rely on most of the time and at average sheet out in overpowered conditions for it's range..i did try the bow on 16 18kts. but looked crazy flying a specialized lightwind kite. it doesn't behave as it's supposed to be..

This is a "how long is a piece of string" question for sure.

GENERALLY:

C kites will jump more violently and kiteloop a lot better but will drop you quicker as well

Bows will jump more gently and smoothly and will hold you up longer

As for pure height, that really comes down to the rider and how much power they can hold down in the kite while jumping. In this respect, bows are sometimes better because you can ride a 12m bow in heavy winds with a heap of depower, but jump it and sheet it in hard and you will get a big boost. In similar winds you might have to take a 10m C-kite and will not get the same loft. (example only)

most of it is technique really, and of course the weight of the rider :)

makes sense your reply neill but havox's same...i guess it all boils down to how much will power and guts and wind and force you apply to a fabric trying to lift you off, of course the technique. as i said if there was a good kiter in front of me we'd be discussing what wasn't right but too bad there's none..i just think am doin' good till there's another guy..

If you keen on developing your skills you can always get a friend to video you kite and then post it on utube for some constructive criticism/tips. Include all stacks too

this question used to be really easy to answer.

When using a C kite, the higher the aspect the faster the kite the higher the jump.

Now the manufacturers have gone and mixed it all and combined bows/sles/C and god knows what else. Then theres the C kite from manufacturer X versus the Bow/sle from Y and the head spins.

I personally jump higher on a C kite(or C style kite), then again thats what i have mostly used. Line tension + lift of kite + edge + chop(or lack of chop)- weight of (kite+rider+board) has some affect as well.

Ask Eric.

I found recently that i can jump higher on a C in ligher winds. ie i jumped much higher on a 13m fuel than i did on MY 13m waroo. but in stronger winds as stated above a bow is nicer because you can use a kite that is a couple of sizers bigger than the c you would be using, send kite to 12 and BOOM ur up

when i was riding the fuel i was riding in about 15 knots on a 128 Jaime back to back with my waroo. with newer c kites with their huge bar throw you can depower almost as much a a SLE/bow anyway so its not that much different anymore.

Safety:
C kites or SLE shaped 5 line kites are safest and more reliable as with bridles they can wear without the user noticing and suddenly snap during a session where as the 5 line doesnt have bridles and pullys so thers nothing chafing any of the lines, also a full depower system by flaggin out on 5th line. For beginners a SLE or 5 line hybrid would best suit simply because they are not as agressive and they are alot safer.
