can't beat buying local imo, i go to a good local shop and pay for service.
it may be a little more $$$ upfront but it builds a relationship, which can be priceless especially if new to kiting.
just gotta be lucky to have a good kite shop in your area i guess (i travel 2 hours to mine, so not super close).

hit up your local for a deal, because to them a happy customer is a return customer...

I would explaine myself with saying: ?I'm Not Rich Enough To Buy Cheap Things.? ..what u can maybe not fully but sort of relate my idea

what I wanna say is, that when Im going to buy latest stuff, ofc its going to be higher on its price as it is on demo or year older gear but once i wanna sell it, i can get better price..
..im not after makeing business but i think u get the point.

Maybe hit refresh on ours, it should come up with the KP logo, otherwise your browser is detecting the type of platform that runs each website, and the symbol represents that platform/software.

Definitely give the local shop a go. Kite-Line is not supposed to sell North or any brand that has distribution in Australia, to anyone who lives here. Anyway I'm sure you can get a very similar deal here in Oz, try Briskites, Adrenalin Rush, In the Loop, Kite Republic, AKS or any of the bigger North dealers.
Or better still try your nearest KP shop and ask about other brands 2013 closeout package deals, and save even more money!

..well, have to admit that my adventure going to have start from philippines, so i thinking about ask from there aswel about price

Funny thing is I know all the sites you are asking about and I dont want to spoil the suprise for you.. Feel free to send your money to the Philipines or Indo. Keep and eye on the mailbox for your gear!!

I agree surfingboye. Seriously if you develop a relationship with the right retailer they will look after you in terms of price. Service of course but price to. Show your commitment over a few years and a decent retailer with a reasonable head on their shoulders will save you more money in the end.

That's how I see it. Don't rob Peter to pay Paul because eventually you will pay more. Hey that farqin Rythms.

This may sound a bit presumptuous - but you sound a bit... not local. So maybe from that point of view you have less invested in the Australian Kite scene, don't care about local retailers, and honestly just want to kite here, take what you can, pay the least amount possible, then go home at some stage. And that's fine. People are free to do whatever the hell they want and lots of people buy overseas.

But with the dollar the way it is you'd be better off getting a good deal from a local dealer. I was dead set on buying kites overseas but found that the deals just aren't that much better and making relationships with local dealers will get you a hell of a lot further in terms of price and service. Especially if you are new.

Buying local has a number of benefits: 1) you're not being a selfish taker 2) you're forging relationships with local dudes that will help you actually buy proper gear that is suited for you 3) you can go back to them if things aren't working out or anything goes wrong.

All that fails, by all means, go buy your gear in the phillippines!

Declaring as a gift will not always work. It's 50/50 most of the time. People at Customs are not idiots.

But don't forget your items will be tax free at sellers end so if say from the UK its - 20% so if its over $1000 you pay gst so still 10% cheaper on an already much cheaper kite, if your buying one kite its generally under so no charge here plus most ship free, if your gears marginally cheaper then go local , I've a mate who owns a shop in the UK so that's why I shop with him, but he laughs at what we pay here, basically we or our local shops are getting ripped by a distributor, making it hard for them to compete with OS companies which buy direct, its not just kites its all products, carnt get my head around this, I bought my dad in the UK a carton of little creatures pale ale delivered to his door &15 cheaper than what I pay at my local bottle shop, work that one out?

The more we buy online from anywhere but you local stores the less service our local stores can provide and the more expensive kite gear gets in Australia... It all about economies of scales if you want reasonable prices support Aussies shops... I love walking into the two scarborough kite shops, have a chat and WOW you can demo a "brand new" kite or board.. How cool is that.. Incredible sales tool that my business in construction would never give.... I have no affiliation with any kite company but have never paid rrp from either shop.. So my hubble, worthless advice is don't google, don't ring, walk in to a real shop talk to a real person and still get a screaming deal in Aussie dollars..

So just as I go to press "post" I realize I also go to safety bay and there are 2 shops there I have bought my latest gear from.... So how lucky are west Australians we have choice of real shops that offer choice and service.. Then there are shops in Leederville, osy park, geraldton , exmouth...........
aussie stuff like griffin kites, carboards and ikon kites... I, like all of my west Aussie friend are struggling on $300k a year but I still want to walk into a kite/ surf/sup shop and kick some tyres ....


Rant over ... By the way "eastern stater" we all don't make $300k over here
