I have read a lot of reviews about the x-bow lately and finally got to see one in action in the weekend ( I think there is only 2 in melbourne at the moment)

Anyway it looked awsome, and all the reviews sound pretty good, My only concern is the bar presure so I was wondering if any girls have tried it and what they thought of the bar pressure or any other aspects of the kite.

I am looking at getting the 9m and am still relativly in the beginner stages of kiting

Guys you can add your thoughts too

I wouldn't rely mainly on girls to give you an indication of bar pressure - I'm a girl and everyone who borrows my kite gives it back complaining about my settings that the bar pressure is too much, and one of my friends (a girl) in NZ rides with so much bar pressure I think MY arms are going to fall off when I borrow hers. And she likes to ride unhooked a lot too.

by hunglongs standards im a chick.

So I will add my thoughts.

I will admit I haven't ridden it alot, although had a small go in quite strong wind today, 12m 25knots avg gusting to 30+)

The bar pressure is highish but its not steering pressure really its sheeting in pressure. and its not really alot but consistent. If you can think of it as doing weights, a ****load of reps at low weight as opposed to low reps of a high weight. So its not actually alot of force but its always there. So I don't think it would be a concern to girls much if any more then a guy.

I'm probably beg/int(upwind,dangle jumps, toeside). I know this kite is marketed as advanced kite but I think if your switched on and can figure out the technicalites of the kite a intermediate beginner (eg able to go along on the board) could use it. I wouldn't hand it to a complete noob who hasn't flown a bucket kite before though.

I just wish I was gruezi's daughter.

Yeah, now I think about it it probably doesn't make that much difference (girls or guys...)

My CO2 feels really light compared to the one I had lessons on, but I haven't really tried that many kites and in the end it probably wouldn't matter once you got use to it.

Carbine, I am at the stage where I going down wind but still struggling with the upwind concept, but hoping that will all click soon - what do you think? I am slightly worried that when I get to the jumping stage that the crossbow might have me jumping higher or faster than I would want when learning.

However everthing I have heard so far makes me think this is a good option and the safety aspect really apeal to me

It would be so much easier to make these secisions if you could try before you buy

I have not tried the X-bow myself, but have been speaking to Andy at Board Crazy in Belmont, he was telling me about the Nova and one of the points he mentioned compared to the x-bow was that the Nova was lighter on the bar. You may want to give him a call and have a chat with him.

hey if you're in melbourne give Alex at Stonker a call.

he has flown a GK Sonic which is the same style but simpler and he knows about the other widespan kites.

tell him I said to just tell it like it is.
