Hey Northern Rivers people,

I'm heading up near Byron for a week from Saturday. Can you recommend the best spots?

We'll be staying in New Brighton, near Brunswick Heads and Ocean Shores. I can see there's a good kite spot at Byron near The Pass. Anywhere else you would recommend? Riding twin tip, intermediate.

Julian rocks can be pretty fun

Southerly-its got to be SE and you'll be alright at newie, lennox, tallows, Blackrock, potty river. If it's sse or straight south you gotta go to cudgen reef, sth kingy .

Northerly is good anywhere but is 5kts stronger in byron, go to Belongil for free parking, can be bumpy but can be epic. Belongil also has no sweep.
Hastings point on outgoing tide is also fun

Thanks Patticannon, looks like we'll get Northerly most of the time. Checking Belongil on google maps, is the best spot near "old jetty park"?
What about "the pass"?

You can ride a strait S from Brunswick up mate. No need for SE. It's prefered strait S for us wave riders. But your In for some huge N winds. The pass is hard to drive to and payed parking. So most guys from northern side of Byron go to bilongil and kite across. It's kinda sacred ground over there though, so stick to the waves and no huge boosts near shore. Local swimmers and such get angry easy. Makes life hard on everyone. Paddie is spot on about bilongil having huge potential. Great kickers to send it off of.
